Optical readout device to provide visual information
09829298 · 2017-11-28 · ·

An optical readout device for providing visual circumference and diameter readings of an object being measured by a linear tape. The tail end of the tape passes by a reader element in a digital device which is equipped electronically with the pi conversion factor to provide selective readings of diameter in English and metric units, as well as circumference readings. The device can be employed for external (outside) and internal (inside) measurements.

System and method for measuring a non-bone tendon

There is disclosed a system and method for measuring the diameter or thickness of a tendon. In an embodiment, the device includes an adjustable tube having a variably sized cross-sectional diameter in a direction perpendicular to an axis extending between the first end and the second end, the adjustable tube being positionable from an open configuration in which the variably sized cross-sectional diameter is larger than a diameter of a tendon so as to allow loading of the tendon, to a closed configuration in which the variably sized cross-sectional diameter approximates the diameter of the tendon so as to allow measurement of the tendon. The device includes a measurement gradient in operable configuration with the adjustable tube so as to allow measurement of the tendon in the closed configuration. Other embodiments are also disclosed.

Wellbore caliper with maximum diameter seeking feature

A wellbore caliper includes an actuator housing pivotally connected at one end to a well logging instrument housing and an actuator disposed in the housing and operable to extend and retract laterally extensible measuring arms.

FLEXIBLE GAUGE CELL

A workstation for measuring dimensions includes an operator zone, a first fixture, a second fixture, a component delivery device, a gauge, and a collaborative robot. The second fixture is accessible to an operator in the operator zone. A component delivery device deposits a first component onto the first fixture. The envelope of the component delivery device is not accessible by the operator in the operator zone. The collaborative robot supports the gauge tool and has a range of motion capable of measuring the first component on the first fixture and a second component on the second fixture. A control module is in communication with the gauge and the collaborative robot and operates the collaborative robot to measure the first component on the first fixture and the second component on the second fixture.

STANDARD TOOL DIAMETER GAGE
20170307348 · 2017-10-26 ·

A device and method used in a spindle or fixture to measure tool sizes. The device has two conical shapes that have precision machined surfaces. The device's face has a precise size which is the same nominal size as that of a material removing tool. The device's shaft allows for concentric and precision fastening of the device to a spindle or a fixture. The nose of the device is located on the end of the larger of the two conical shapes which is visible exposed when mounted and used. The end of the device is at the end of the smaller of the two conical shapes which is hidden after mounting. The combination of using the device and method will allow more accurate programming of machine tools which in turn will provide higher quality results on machined work pieces and reduced machining cycles.

Controllable caliper

An embodiment of the invention is directed to an electronic caliper which combines positioning and measurement in one unit without the use of hydraulics for subsea use. In certain embodiments, several attachments can be affixed to accommodate a range of measurement tasks. In a preferred embodiment, one jaw is adjustable and the other, or opposing, jaw is fixed to a mounting structure. The jaws typically allow for the removal and replacement of other attachments. In another embodiment, the unit communicates to computer software for position control, precise indication and clamping for adjustment. In a preferred embodiment, computer software displays all feedback via laptop computer on surface. The caliper is maneuvered to a position proximate an object and used to measure a predetermined physical characteristic of the object. The measurement can be displayed using a computer with control software.
