Method and system for measuring speed and distance of a bicycle
A method and system for measuring a physical parameter, such as speed and/or distance travelled by a bicycle, includes a permanent magnet disposed on a front fork and a measuring circuit with a magnetic sensor disposed on a rim of the wheel at the same distance from the wheel axis of rotation as the magnet. The sensor passes in front of the magnet to generate an induced voltage pulse at each passage. The induced voltage is rectified and stored on a capacitor. Energy recovery during the sensor passing in front of the magnet allows powering of the measuring circuit. The parameter is calculated in the calculation unit clocked by an oscillator based on the received induced voltage pulses by knowing the bicycle wheel diameter. Measurements performed from the measuring circuit are transmitted to a portable device carried by the user or mounted on the bicycle to be displayed.
Activity monitoring computing device and system
An activity monitoring device (AMD) wearable on the torso of a user. The AMD including functional components such as an accelerometer, a processor, on-board data memory, a wireless transmitter and electrodes for detecting heart rate. The functional components configured to collect data in order to provide heart rate information, running speed, ground contact time, vertical oscillation, cycling cadence, riding positions (standing or seated) and other functions. The device may be accessed and controlled by way of the wireless connection. The device and/or functions thereof may also be controlled through accurate user tap detection. The device may further store and transmit information relevant to various functions for remote storage or display.
TRACK ESTIMATION DEVICE
A track estimation device includes: a reliability determination unit configured to determine the reliability of satellite positioning information; an update timing determination unit configured to determine the timing of updating a parameter to estimate track of cycling based on the reliability of satellite positioning information; and an update unit configured to update the parameter based on a result of the timing determination. When the reliability determination unit determines that reliability of the satellite positioning information is low, the track estimation unit estimates the track based on the parameter by autonomous navigation.

Method and apparatus to measure motion characteristics for bicycles and any vehicles on wheels
A sensor system for use with a host device a vehicle having a frame and at least one wheel. The sensor system has a first sensor associated with the at least one wheel of the vehicle. The first sensor generates wheel data indicative of movement of the wheel. The wheel data may be rotational angle, full revolution count, angle of a revolution, direction of revolution, and angular acceleration with respect to a magnetic pole of the Earth or a magnet attached to a frame. The sensor transmits the wheel data to the host device.
Bicycle pedaling frequency sensor
The present disclosure is for a bicycle pedaling frequency sensor comprising a signal acquisition unit, a data transmission unit, and/or a data conversion unit. Pedaling frequency is obtained by recording and converting periodical changes of acceleration and/or of angular velocity in real time. This can be achieved by further incorporating a two axis, a three axis acceleration sensors, and/or gyroscope sensors. The pedaling frequency sensor communicates wirelessly with a computing terminal. It is powered and housed within the cavity of a shell, wherein the shell's outer surface is in thread fit with an inner surface of an expansion component. The expansion component allows the sensor to be inserted into and secured within hollow spaces on a bicycle's pedals and/or cranks.
Route search apparatus and route search method
There is provided a route search apparatus including a measuring unit configured to measure a traveling distance or a traveling time, a position information acquiring unit configured to acquire position information of a current point, a start point registering unit configured to register the position information, which is acquired by the position information acquiring unit when the measuring unit starts the measurement, as position information of a start point, and a route searching unit configured to, if an operation of returning to the start point is detected, search a return route between the current point designated as a departure point when the operation of returning to the start point is detected and the start point designated as a destination.
