An improved protective garment is form-fitting and comfortably secured to the wearer and includes a plurality of padding surfaces to adequately protect the wearer from moisture, cold, wind and uneven surfaces, while also providing pockets that are accessible from both a standing and seated position for storage or hand warming. The pads are held in separate compartments that are readily accessible so that users can replace and/or adjust the pads, such as by trimming them. These features allow for less encumbered motion of the wearer and are based on the construction and shape of the garment. The shape allows for both expansion of coverage on the wearer's body to include the crotch as well as lateral and anterior thighs extending from the waist to just above the knees.

An article of apparel has a surface with a first part of a fastening system, and an attachment element has an outer area with a second part of the fastening system. The first part of the fastening system is joinable to the second part of the fastening system to attach the attachment element to the apparel. The first part of the fastening system is also separable from the second part of the fastening system to separate the attachment element from the apparel. The attachment element may be formed from a polymer foam material, may include a fluid-filled chamber, or may incorporate an electronic device, for example. In some configurations, the attachment element is secured to an exterior of the apparel. In other configurations, the attachment element is secured between two layers of the apparel.

A foam-plastic protector includes a foam insert having a front surface and a rear surface. A plastic sleeve is harder than the foam insert and has a base and an overlapping portion spaced from the base to define a gap. The foam insert is received against the base and inter-locked with the plastic sleeve. A covered portion of the foam insert is positioned within the gap and covered by the overlapping portion of the plastic sleeve. A remainder of the foam insert is exposed. A protective sport padding and a method of assembling same are also disclosed. The foam insert may be fixedly attached to the protective sport padding.

PROTECTOR

A protector for protecting a targeted body part of the wearer is disclosed. The protector includes a mounting belt that is adapted to put on the body of the wearer, and at least one protective body that is adapted to cover the targeted body part when the protector is worn, the protective body extending from the mounting belt. The protective body includes a protective pad that substantially has a board shape, an airbag that is overlaid on an outer surface of the protective pad in a stacking manner and configured to be inflated with an inflation gas, and an outer cover that covers outer circumferences of the protective pad and the airbag as stacked one on another. At least a part of an outer circumferential edge of the airbag is joined to the protective pad so that the airbag will not float away from the protective pad when inflated.

The first-side includes an adhesive layer for removably securing the pad to a calf portion of a leg of a user-wearer. The adhesive layer may include a pressure-sensitive adhesive. The pad further includes a removable cover for concealing the adhesive layer before use. The second-side includes a calf-muscle-like extension having a profile of a sculpted calf muscle for enhancing a natural appearance of the calf portion and overall leg of the user-wearer during wear.

The body includes a center portion and first and second wings extending laterally outwardly in opposite directions from the center portion. The outer shield defines a body having a center portion and first and second wings extending laterally outwardly in opposite directions from the center portion. The wings of the outer shield are configured to releasably engage the respective wings of the inner shield to thereby releasably engage the outer shield with the inner shield with the center portions thereof in spaced-apart relation.
