The invention relates to a method for continuous, gravimetric metering and mass flow determination of flowable materials, comprising: determining with a metering device an instantaneous mass flow at an anticipatory control point located a first distance ahead of a delivery point for the flowable material; affecting discharge of the flowable material by altering a speed of rotation of the metering device and varying the first distance of the anticipatory control point ahead of the delivery point depending on at least one of a current actual speed and a loading of the metering device, wherein the loading of the metering device is calculated on the basis of a sectoral load measurement.

METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR METERING PROPPANT
A method and system for metering proppant discharged from a storage container is disclosed. In certain embodiments, a method may comprise loading a known amount of a first proppant type into a storage container, detecting proppant at or adjacent to a discharge outlet of the storage container via one or more sensors coupled to the storage container, operating a metering device at a predetermined speed, wherein the metering device may be coupled to the discharge outlet of the storage container, and wherein the metering device may comprise one or more pockets for receiving the first proppant type. In certain embodiments, the method may further comprise dispensing a known amount of the first proppant type from the storage container via the metering device, wherein an encoder coupled to the metering device may emit pulses during the dispensing. In certain embodiments, the method may further comprise determining an amount of the first proppant type dispensed by at least one pocket of the one or more pockets of the metering device based at least in part on the pulses and determining a relationship between the known amount of the first proppant type dispensed by each pocket and a speed of the metering device.

An apparatus (1) for continuous gravimetric metering of pourable material comprises a housing (2) comprising a first and a second spaced wall (5,6), a charging port (7) through the first wall (5), and a discharging port (8) through the first wall (5) displaced from the charging port (7) and a primary air port (10) with a primary outlet opening (9) through the second wall (6) opposite to the discharging port (8). In the second wall (6) a secondary air port (12) is provided with a secondary outlet opening (11) having a substantially smaller outlet area than the primary outlet opening (9) and being displaced from the primary outlet opening in opposite direction to the rotational direction of the rotor (3) and being arranged opposite to the discharging port (8), and where the primary and secondary air ports (10,12) are connected to a compressed air supply.
