Protective devices have first and second members and an integral hinge joining the members together. The first and second members have external pockets along an outside surface that accommodate placement of a user's fingers therein from the same hand. The first and second members include opposed inside surfaces that are opposite the respective outside surfaces. The device is opened by the user moving their thumb and fingers in the pockets away from each other to move the inside surfaces outwardly to accept an object or surface. The device inside surfaces and inside surface of the hinge is the only surface contacting the object or surface during use. The device is closed by the user moving their thumb and fingers toward each other, causing the inside surfaces to move toward each other. An attachment mechanism us used to keep the inside surfaces contained to avoid unwanted cross-contamination during storage and/or transport.

An athletic glove is disclosed having a high-grip surface on the palm side of the glove. The high-grip surface is formed from a panel of high-adherence material and comprises an embossed pattern that is configured to provide a high-grip surface while maintaining high tactile feedback or “feel” of the item being grasped, while maintaining maximum flexibility in the hand so as to not impede the wearer's ability to conform their hand to the intended shape when varying their grip on the item being grasped. The high-grip or high-adherence surface is formed of a high friction flexible polymer, such as silicone. To further aid in providing a high-grip configuration that maintains maximum tactile feedback and flexibility for the wearer, the embossed pattern provided on the palm side of the glove employs separate, thin (preferably about 0.35 mm in thickness) pads that are separated from one another by a small distance to maximize flexibility of the high-grip surface and to provide moisture flow channels along the palm surface of the glove. The top side of the glove (i.e., the side opposite the palm) is preferably formed of a stretchable fabric for comfort of the wearer.

The glove is open up to the distal phalanges of the fingers in order to preserve maximum contact with a handle, and has gripping material on the fingertips in order to optimise the gripping of the handle and prevent the glove from slipping around the fingers. An elastic part surrounds the wrist, with anti-slip properties on the side next to the skin for better hold. A part covers the entire back of the hand with stretchable material adapted to the temperature, double-fibre material allowing moisture to be transferred outwards and then absorbed. Elastic is provided at the base of the palm (opening side), allowing the hand to close more easily around the handle. The glove is intended, in particular, for any person needing to cover only the back of the hand.

Additionally, the glove may have a width near the wrist that is wider than the width near the palm to enable the glove to be rapidly removed (i.e., doffed) in an emergency event of the glove getting caught in a rotating blade on the skinning machine.

The glove comprises: a glove main body made of fibers for covering a wearer's hand; and a coating layer which comprises nitrile butadiene rubber as a principal component and coats at least a part of an outer face of a palm region of the glove main body, in which: the coating layer comprises zinc oxide and a cross-linked product of the nitrile butadiene rubber and polycarbodiimide; and a mass ratio of the polycarbodiimide to the nitrile butadiene rubber is no less than 0.002. The mass ratio of the polycarbodiimide to the nitrile butadiene rubber is preferably no greater than 0.09. The content of the zinc oxide with respect to 100 parts by mass of the nitrile butadiene rubber is preferably from 0.3 to 5 parts by mass.
