Apparatus for determining a vertical level or density of a material column
An apparatus for determining a vertical level or density of a material column including one or more of a granular solid, a wet granular solid, a slurry, and a suspension, the apparatus having a support member; and at least one measurement module, wherein the measurement module includes a support arm mounted to the support member and extending outwardly from the support member; a displacer mounted to the support arm, and a force measurement device configured to measure a force attributable to a mass of the displacer mediated by a buoyancy of the displacer in the material column, wherein the measurement module has a data connection to a data processing unit for transmitting measurement data from the measurement module to the data processing unit to generate level or density information about the material column.
Density sensor and density sensor manufacturing method
A density sensor to measure the density of a gas having a density ranging from 30 gram per cubic meter to 150 kilogram per cubic meter and a working pressure ranging from 0 to 100 bar. The density sensor includes a resonator housing, a membrane, an actuating/detecting module mechanically coupled to the membrane, and a resonating element arranged to be immersed in the gas, the resonating element being mechanically coupled to the membrane by a pedestal. The resonating element is a resonating disk having a thickness ranging from 25 m to 200 m and a diameter ranging from 4 mm to 12 mm. The resonating disk extends parallelly to the membrane or being angled relatively to the membrane and is coupled by its center to the pedestal. The resonating disk is made of a metal chosen among the group comprising stainless steel, nickel-iron alloy and Molybdenum.
LIQUID TANK INSPECTION INCLUDING DEVICE FOR LAUNCHING SUBMERSIBLE
A launching tube for use with a liquid filled tank can be sized to accommodate a submersible vehicle for dispensing into the liquid tank. The tank can be an electrical transformer or any other liquid containing tank such as but not limited to a chemical tank. The launching tube can include a valve for insertion into a launching chamber, and a tank side valve for launching of the submersible into the tank. In one form the launching tube includes an antenna for communication with the submersible and/or a base station. The launching tube can also include a sensor such as a camera, as well as an agitator. The agitator can be used to facilitate bubble removal from the inside of the launching tube.
Moisture monitoring apparatus and method including a tensiometer
An elongated apparatus that measures soil water tension is disclosed, having a hydrogel chamber for receiving a plurality of macro-sized hydrogel particles through its open side and a sealed inner wall, the hydrogel held in the hydrogel chamber by a durable, hydrophilic, and porous window secured to the open side of the hydrogel chamber. The window, when the apparatus is received in soil, transmits moisture between the soil and the hydrogel chamber, causing variable pressure within the hydrogel chamber that can be converted to a measurement of soil water tension on the opposite side of the window. This pressure produces various mechanical effects, measurable by various types of sensors within the elongated probe. A method for measuring soil water tension at multiple depths within a soil profile is also disclosed.
