Vugular Loss Simulating Vug Tester for Screening and Evaluation of LCM Products
An apparatus to simulate fluid loss through vugs in formations includes a housing defining an inner volume, and having a first end and a second end. The inner volume represents an inner region of a wellbore formed in a formation containing a vugular loss zone. The housing can receive wellbore fluid within the inner volume. A first cover late, which sealingly covers the first end, represents a first volumetric boundary of the inner region of the wellbore. A second cover plate, which sealingly covers the second end, represents a second volumetric boundary of the inner region of the wellbore. An outlet in the second cover plate can be switched between open and closed states. The outlet in the open state represents a vug in the inner wall of the wellbore. The apparatus includes a pressure port configured to transmit fluidic pressure in a direction of gravity within the inner volume and to apply the fluidic pressure to the wellbore fluid within the inner volume.

DEVICE TO DEFINE THE RETENTION BOUNDARY OF GRANULAR MATERIALS
A device and test method for characterizing granular materials for angle of repose, static and dynamic flow properties, and process parameter variables by means of defining a sample retention boundary. The device is composed of a funnel for dynamic testing, a retention ring for static testing, a base, and a test device having an upper surface set at one or more angles to determine conditions in which samples are retained. By varying the texture of the surface, flow characteristics and other process issues can be evaluated.

Viscometer and methods for using the same
A viscometer includes a viscosity sensor with a liquid flow channel and at least two pressure sensors positioned along the liquid flow channel and configured to measure a pressure drop of a liquid flowing through the liquid flow channel, and a dispensing mechanism configured to cause dispensing of a liquid from the syringe to the viscosity sensor at a known flow rate. The dispensing mechanism and the viscosity sensor are configured to couple with a syringe configured to contain a liquid. The viscometer further includes an electronic controller configured to control operations of the dispensing mechanism and receive and process data from the viscosity sensor. The viscometer includes a sample loading interface, included in the syringe, through which the viscometer is configured to receive the liquid. The sample loading interface includes a selection valve coupled with, and located between, the viscosity sensor and the syringe.
