MOISTURE WICKING ALUMINIZED SAFETY GEAR
A safety garment material is designed to be used in high temperature environments where aluminized personal protection equipment is required gear to protect workers from high radiant heat as well as accidental molten metal splashing or spills. The material includes a plurality of layers of nonwoven fire-resistant oxidized polyacrylonitrile (OPAN) arranged in a wicking configuration to wick moisture away from the wearer's body and layer of perforated aluminized film to allow escape of moisture from the wearer's body.
HEAT SHIELDING SLEEVE
A heat shielding sleeve defining a limb placement zone and including an installed position encapsulating a user's limb and an uninstalled position removed from a user's limb. The heat shielding sleeve further comprises an elastic or semi-elastic outer layer operably configured to enclose a user's leg and a secondary layer defined by a plurality of raised members wherein the secondary layer and the plurality of raised members are comprised of a thermally insulating material. The secondary layer further defines a plurality of exhaust apertures designed to provide thermal venting of the user's skin. The heat shielding sleeve is designed to protect motorcycle riders' and passengers' lower limbs from burns caused when riders and passengers come into physical contact with a motorcycle's exhaust pipes or the gas emissions emanating therefrom, while providing a comfortable and breathable garment sleeve that may be operably adjusted to the comfort of the user.
Method for assembling a garment portion
A method for assembling a garment portion including accessing a first garment portion, a second garment portion and a fixture, wherein the first garment portion is generally tubular and has two plies. The method further includes positioning the first garment portion on the fixture such that the fixture is positioned in the first garment portion, and wrapping the second garment portion about the first garment portion. The method further includes unrolling or unfolding at least part of the first garment portion over the second garment portion such that the second garment portion is positioned between the two plies of the first garment portion.
Burn protective materials
A method is described for reducing the afterflame of a flammable, meltable material. A textile composite is described comprising an outer textile comprising a flammable, meltable material, and a heat reactive material comprising a polymer resin-expandable graphite mixture.
FLAME RESISTANT FINISHED FABRICS EXHIBITING WATER REPELLENCY AND METHODS FOR MAKING THE SAME
Fabrics that are exhibit water repellency, abrasion resistance, and optionally flame resistance are described herein. The fabrics include a plurality of fibers (such as flame resistant fibers) and a finish that imparts water repellency and abrasion resistance to the fibers. The fabrics are free or substantially free from alkylfluoropolymers. Also described herein are garments including the fabrics.
Particulate resistant garment
A protective garment system including a bib configured to fit around at least part of an upper portion of a torso of a wearer. The bib includes an outer material and a particulate-blocking material which is configured to be positioned between the outer material and a wearer when the bib is worn. The bib has a perimeter and is configured to be releasably attached to a pair of trousers about the perimeter.
WEARABLE MOTORCYCLE HEAT-SHIELD
A one-size-fits-all wearable motorcycle heat-shield, intended for use by a rider in order to prevent burns from the exhaust pipes of the motorcycle is disclosed. The wearable motorcycle heat-shield is comprised of a planar centered heat-shield with planar regions disposed on either side. The planar regions are temporarily attachable through the use of hook-and-loop fasteners, or other temporary fastening means. The heat-shield is comprised of an outer cover fabricated from a woven water-, flame-, and heat-resistant fabric covering an inner heat-resistant layer.
PARTICULATE BLOCKING UNDERGARMENT
A particulate blocking undergarment for workers operating in hazardous environments. The undergarment adds particulate blocking technology to an undergarment (men's and women's brief, bra) that provides a protective barrier to significantly reduce the risk of exposure to carcinogens and infiltration around protective over garments. The protective barrier includes a plurality of layers including an inner flame retardant layer and an outer particulate blocking layer. The inner layer may include a Polartech Power Stretch FR materialand/or other material per NFPA 1975. The outer layer may include a Stedfast, Stedair Prevent materialand/or other materials per NPFA 1971.
Wearable thermal protection and perspiration management apparatus and method
Disclosed is a wearable thermal protection and perspiration management apparatus that includes a two-ply composite main body and an inner layer of elastic material. The two-ply main body includes an outer layer made of moisture absorbent material and an interior layer made of moisture wicking material this is arranged in contact with the outer layer of moisture absorbent material. The interior layer provides a moisture barrier which is adapted for preventing captured moisture from contacting a wearer's body. The inner layer of elastic material is adapted and configured to secure the two-ply composite main body in contact with the wearer's body. Preferably, the two-ply composite main body has a Thermal Protective Performance rating of greater than 35 cal/cm.sup.2.
