System and method for determining parameters associated with bale charges formed within a pre-compression chamber of an agricultural baler
A method for determining parameters associated with bale charges formed within agricultural balers includes transmitting microwave signals through a charge of crop material located within a pre-compression chamber of an agricultural baler or into a wall of the pre-compression chamber. Additionally, the method includes determining at least one wave-related property associated with the microwave signals as transmitted through the charge of crop material or into the wall of the pre-compression chamber, and estimating a filling degree of at least a portion of the pre-compression chamber based at least in part on the at least one wave-related property associated with the microwave signals.
System and method to detect ground moisture
A system for measuring moisture in soil below the ground surface comprises at least one passive microwave sensor device configured to measure natural thermal emissions from the soil and output a data signal and a processing circuit operably coupled to the at least one passive microwave sensor wherein the processing circuit is configured to receive the data signal and compile a soil moisture profile. The system further comprises a wide-band antenna wherein the at least one passive microwave sensor is located therein and an elongate horizontal mounting frame extending between first and second ends wherein the first end is securable to a mobile agricultural device and wherein the wide-band antenna is secured to the second end so as to position the wide-band antenna at a distance above the ground surface.

MOISTURE SENSING USING RADIO FREQUENCY IDENTIFICATION (RFID)
A passive UHF (Ultra High Frequency, 902-928 MHz) RFID-based fabric (such as a diaper) moisture sensor is low-cost, user-friendly, reusable, washable, environment-friendly and comes with an extended on-body read range of 3.6 meters with baby diapers and 4.4 meters with adult diapers. The external reader unit is connected to the internet or a local network, and may automatically notify the parents or caregivers as soon as the presence of moisture is detected.

GWR probe for interface measurement and viscous fluids
There is disclosed a probe used with a measurement instrument including a pulse circuit for generating pulses. A coaxial connector is secured to the probe case so that the probe case is electrically connected to the ground shield. A center rod has a top end received in the probe case and to extend into a process liquid. The center rod is electrically connected to the center terminal for conducting the pulses. Ground rods are spaced around the center rod and are secured to the probe case. The probe provides an open configuration less susceptible to build-up between the center rod and the ground rods. One or more of the ground rods may by tubes, connected to a flushing port, with nozzles for cleaning the enter rod. Another ground rod may be tubular for carrying a conductor connected to a bottom of the center rod for bottom-up measurement.
COMPACT BRILLOUIN ANTENNA FOR DETECTING METAL IN FREE SPACE AREA
The focus of the teachings is on using Compact ferrite antenna to detect the motion of metal objects using a very low frequency (VLF) square wave, propagated between a pair of compact ferrite-particle dielectric-core RWA antennas in free space. The two salient features in the signal are observed; both of which are characteristic of Brillouin-precursor propagation: (1) a temporal Bessel-like waveform; and (2) an algebraic, rather than exponential, attenuation with distance over three meters. The key element teaching shows pair of source and detector antenna enables the detection of metals (weapon gun, knife) on a person or package between the ferrite- particle dielectric-core antennas- source (S) and detector (D) pairs or arrays of S-D tractor. The detection consisted of a change in the amplitude of the Bessel-like waveform of the received signal for security system to detect weapons.
Footwear scanning systems and methods
Footwear scanning systems and associated methods are described. According to one aspect, a footwear scanning system includes a base, a shuttle configured to rotate beneath the base, wherein the shuttle comprises an antenna array configured to transmit electromagnetic waves through the base into footwear above the base during the rotation of the shuttle and to receive electromagnetic waves reflected from the footwear during the rotation of the shuttle, a transceiver coupled with the antenna array and configured to apply electrical signals to the antenna array to generate the transmitted electromagnetic waves and to receive electrical signals from the antenna array corresponding to the received electromagnetic waves, and processing circuitry configured to process an output of the transceiver corresponding to the received electromagnetic waves to provide information regarding contents within the footwear.
Footwear scanning systems and methods
Footwear scanning systems and associated methods are described. According to one aspect, a footwear scanning system includes a base, a shuttle configured to rotate beneath the base, wherein the shuttle comprises an antenna array configured to transmit electromagnetic waves through the base into footwear above the base during the rotation of the shuttle and to receive electromagnetic waves reflected from the footwear during the rotation of the shuttle, a transceiver coupled with the antenna array and configured to apply electrical signals to the antenna array to generate the transmitted electromagnetic waves and to receive electrical signals from the antenna array corresponding to the received electromagnetic waves, and processing circuitry configured to process an output of the transceiver corresponding to the received electromagnetic waves to provide information regarding contents within the footwear.
ELECTROMAGNETIC IMAGING AND INVERSION OF SIMPLE PARAMETERS IN STORAGE BINS
A method for electromagnetic imaging of containers receives uncalibrated first data corresponding to signals of a first plurality of different frequencies associated with an antenna array residing in a container having contents. The method estimates of a second data based on a computer model and simulation of signals of a second plurality of different frequencies associated with the antenna array, the second plurality of different frequencies including a subset of the first plurality of different frequencies. The method compares magnitudes, without corresponding phase comparisons, of the first and second data at each frequency of the second plurality of different frequencies. The method updates the second data based on the comparing. The method provides information about the contents within the container based on the updated second data.
