Controlling the quality of a manufactured article

Systems and methods for monitoring the quality of a surface treatment applied to an article in a manufacturing process are provided. A surface treatment may be applied to at least a portion of an article. A thermal profile of the article may be obtained and used to determine temperature indications of different regions of the article to which the surface treatment has been applied. A standard model of the article may be obtained that includes model regions having model temperature ranges. The temperature indications of the article can be compared with the model temperature ranges to determine if any temperature indications are outside of a corresponding model temperature range. The article may be a shoe part. The surface treatments may include the application of heat, plasma, dye, paint, primer, and/or the application of other materials, substances, and/or processes.

Systems and methods for automatic detection of coating defects

Systems and methods for automatic detection of defects in a coating of a component are provided. In one aspect, a coating inspection system is provided. The coating inspection system includes a heating element operable to impart heat to the component as it traverses relative thereto. An imaging device of the system captures images of the component as the heating element traverses relative to the component and applies heat thereto. The images indicate the transient thermal response of the component. The system can generate a single observation image using the captured images. The system can detect and analyze defects using the generated single observation image.

An apparatus (1) for inspecting an object, where the object is made up of a first layer of plastic material and a second layer of EVO or EVOH and has a base wall (A) and a side wall (B) which is inclined relative to the base wall (A), comprises: an inspection zone (10) in which the object can be placed for inspection; a conveyor (12) for feeding the object to the inspection zone (10) along a feed plane (P); an imaging device (14) configured to view the object positioned in the inspection zone (10) and to generate an image (143) of the object; a processor (151), configured to process the image (143), to inspect the second layer. The conveyor (12) is configured to dispose the object in the inspection zone (10) with the base wall (A) positioned according to a predetermined orientation relative to the feed plane (P).

EMBEDDED SYSTEM MODULE THERMAL INSTALLATION VERIFICATION

Systems and methods for detecting an incorrectly attached heat sink component on an electronic device. The system includes one or more temperature sensors secured to the electronic device and a controller unit comprising one or more processors and one or more computer-readable media, the computer-readable media having stored thereon executable instructions that are executable by the one or more processors to perform a method for detecting incorrectly attached heat sink components. The method includes receiving temperature data, calculating a thermal ramp rate, comparing the thermal ramp rate to a predetermined threshold ramp rate, and transmitting a fault signal when the calculated thermal ramp rate exceeds the predetermined threshold ramp rate.

Non-destructive inspection method

A non-destructive inspection method of inspecting an inspection target using multiple different types of non-destructive inspection means that include one non-destructive inspection means and at least one other non-destructive inspection means. The method includes determining a marking position on the inspection target in a detection result by the one non-destructive inspection means, causing a device to store the marking position, and fixedly forming a mark on the inspection target corresponding to the marking position. The mark is detectable by the other non-destructive inspection means. The method further includes causing the other non-destructive inspection means to inspect an inspection target including the mark. The method further includes contrasting detection results by the multiple different types of non-destructive inspection means in reference to the mark which is the marking position.

A method and system for grading pistons with deposits is disclosed. In an embodiment, a piston with an outer surface and deposits upon the outer surface is increased in temperature and thermally scanned. The deposits are identified based on the temperature differences measured with respect to the temperature of the outer surface of the piston. Deposit characteristics can be generated from the identified locations of deposits and the magnitude of temperature difference with respect to the outer surface. The deposit characteristics are recorded and used to grade the pistons.
