Probe for extraction of molecules of interest from a sample
A device is described for generating ionized molecules for analysis in a mass spectrometer. The device includes: a solid substrate having one or more edges and a coated area that is coated with an extraction phase comprising an extraction polymer. The solid substrate may have at least two edges that meet at an angle from about 8° to about 180°. Mass spectrometry systems that include such a device are also described. Methods of analyzing a molecule previously extracted from a sample onto the device are also described.
On-surface mass tagging
The present disclosure relates to a method for detecting a compound, comprising the steps of: contacting a compound with a solid analytical surface (SAS), thereby forming an SAS with an absorbed compound; contacting the SAS with the absorbed compound with a mass tag, wherein the mass tag reacts with the absorbed compound, thereby forming an SAS with a covalently mass-tagged absorbed compound; and detecting the covalently mass-tagged absorbed compound by mass spectrometry. Also disclosed is a device for collecting breath aerosol, comprising a card or an envelope, wherein the card or the envelope comprise a tab, wherein the tab is a SAS.
System and method for non-invasively and non-destructively authenticating bottled beverages
In one embodiment, authentication of a beverage is performed by forming an airtight seal with a bottle that contains the beverage, the bottle being sealed with a closure, applying a vacuum to the bottle to draw a sample from the closure that includes traces of the beverage, collecting the sample over time as the vacuum is applied to the closure, and performing testing on the collected sample.
VACUUM-ASSISTED SAMPLE EXTRACTION DEVICE AND METHOD
A sample extraction device and a desorption device for use in gas chromatography (GC), gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GCMS), liquid chromatography (LC), and/or liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LCMS) are disclosed. In some examples, the sample extraction device includes a lower chamber holding a sorbent. The sample extraction device can extract sample headspace gas from a sample vial by placing the sorbent inside the vial and creating a vacuum to increase recovery of low volatility compounds, for example. Once the sample has been collected, the sample extraction device can be inserted into a desorption device. The desorption device can control the flow of a carrier fluid (e.g., a liquid or a gas) through the sorbent containing the sample and into a pre-column and/or a primary column of a chemical analysis device for performing GC, GCMS, LC, LCMS, and/or some other chemical analysis process.
METHOD AND DEVICE FOR SAMPLE PREPARATION
The present invention relates to method for performing extraction of samples with low entrainment of air. More specifically, the invention relates to a microelution column (1) comprising a column body (2) including a bottom frit (3) and a top frit (4), wherein the column body includes an adsorbent (5) arranged between the bottom frit (3) and the top frit (4), and an optional filter frit (6) has been arranged above the top frit. The invention also relates to a plate including such columns, and a method of use.
Method of isolating sphingolipids from cordyceps and their use
A method of isolating at least one sphingolipid portion selected from a sphingoid base portion, a ceramide portion, a glycosphingolipid portion or a phosphosphingolipid portion from Cordyceps, in particular from wild-type Cordyceps, allows for obtaining sphingolipid portions having an increased amount of one of sphingoid bases, ceramides, glycosphingolipids or phosphosphingolipids. The sphingolipid portions isolated contained significant amounts of sphingolipids not reported so far, and possess exceptional immunosuppressive activities. A method of treating a subject suffering from an inflammatory disease like an autoimmune disease or an allergic disease includes administering sphingolipids isolated from Cordyceps, in particular from wild-type Cordyceps. A method of treating a subject suffering from an inflammatory disease includes administering certain sphingolipids to the subject. Still further in accordance with the present invention is a composition, in particular a pharmaceutical composition comprising at least one sphingolipid portion.
