Toilet with sensor for detecting analytical consumable
An analytical toilet is disclosed. The toilet includes a bowl for receiving excreta, a mechanism that uses a consumable for analyzing a sample of excreta, a storage structure for storing the consumable, a sensor that detects at least one property of the consumable, and a processor that generates an alert when the property is outside a predetermined parameter. The property the sensor detects can be used to determine at least one of the identity of the consumable, the quantity or supply of the consumable, or a property related to the suitability of the consumable.
GridTape For Fast Nanoscale Imaging
A tape for collecting tissue samples in a manner compatible with imaging in a transmission electron microscopy (TEM) system, includes a tape substrate having two side walls forming a trough. The trough is defined by a bottom surface of the tape substrate and internal surfaces of the side walls, with an open side therebetween. A support film is attached to a top surface of the tape substrate, and a plurality of apertures is spaced at predetermined locations along the length of the tape substrate, each aperture being covered by the support film. The tape includes a stacked configuration in which the tape substrate is wound in layers, the bottom surfaces of the side walls in one layer being in contact with the support film in an immediately adjacent layer. The apertures in the second layer are aligned within the trough of the first layer, between the side walls.
AUTOMATIC ANALYZER
According to one embodiment, an automatic analyzer includes a holding unit configured to hold a measurement sheet having a roll shape, the measurement sheet including a measurement section where a sample dispensed at a dispensing position is measured; a conveyance unit configured to convey the measurement sheet to the dispensing position and a measurement position where measurement is performed on the sample; and a measurement unit configured to move to the measurement position and measure a material property value of the sample.
NUCLEIC ACID EXTRACTION APPARATUS
A nucleic acid extraction apparatus having a workbench having a table top, and further comprises a sliding seat, a sample rack, a reagent strip rack, a pipetting table, a piston assembly and a suction assembly. The nucleic acid extraction apparatus comprises the sliding seat and the pipetting table, the sample rack and the reagent strip rack are arranged on the sliding seat, the piston assembly and the suction assembly are respectively arranged on the pipetting table, the sample rack is provided with sample holes, the reagent strip rack is provided with accommodation slots, the number of accommodation slots corresponds to that of the sample holes on a one-to-one basis, and when reagent strips are respectively accommodated in the accommodation slots, a first suction head hole, second suction head holes and various reagent holes in each reagent strip respectively correspond to the corresponding sample holes.
Instrument for analyzing biological samples and reagents
An instrument for processing a biological sample includes a chassis. Connected to the chassis is a tape path along which a tape with a matrix of wells can be automatically advanced through the instrument, a dispensing assembly for dispensing the biological sample and a reagent into the matrix of wells of the tape to form a biological sample and reagent mixture, a sealing assembly for sealing the biological sample and reagent mixture in the tape, and an amplification and detection assembly for detecting a signal from the biological sample and reagent mixture in the matrix of wells in the tape.
METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR REGISTERING IMAGES OF HISTOLOGICAL SECTIONS
An automated tissue section slicing, staining, and imaging system efficiently registers full-resolution tissue section images by applying scaled transformation matrices computed to register downsampled tissue section images to the full-resolution tissue section images.
Biopsy tissue sample cassette and related systems and methods
Tissue sample cassettes for receiving tissue samples include an upper tray including compartments separated by dividers, a lower tray coupled to the upper tray and having a central recess, and an absorbent material located in the recess of the lower tray. Related systems and methods for automated gross processing of tissue samples are also disclosed.
MILKING SYSTEM WITH DETECTION SYSTEM
A milking system includes a device to sample and analyse a milk sample, including a control unit, a sample supply line connected to the milk line, a pump to control the sample flow, an optical radiation source, and an optical sensor device to detect and analyse optical radiation coming from the reagent pad with said sample, to provide an indication of a substance in the sample, a tape mover to move and unwind the tape from the tape reel, and a pump drive, external to the cassette, and releasably operably connected to the pump device for driving the pump device. The sampling and analysis device also includes a cassette with a sample receiving line, releasably connected to the sample supply line by a liquid connector, and arranged to receive the sample from the sample supply line, a tape reel with a tape that includes a base tape layer and a series of separate reagent pads, and a dosing device to provide a droplet of the sample onto a reagent pad. The dosing device includes a nozzle in fluid connection with the sample receiving line, and a nozzle mover arranged to move the nozzle in at least a longitudinal direction. The cassette is replaceably received in the milking system. Hereby, a large number of parts that are subject to wear and contamination by milk residues are exchanged regularly, which improves measurement reliability and accuracy.
MILKING SYSTEM WITH SAMPLING DEVICE
A milking system includes a milking device, a milk line for carrying milk from the milking device, and a sampling unit that is arranged to take a sample from the milk line and to test the sample for the presence or concentration of at least one substance. The sampling unit is provided with a control unit and a housing. The housing includes therein a supply reel with a tape that carries reagent, and a sample supplier to supply, under control of the control unit, a part of the sample to the reagent on the tape. The sampling unit further includes a tape displacer displacing the tape under control of the control unit, a sample analyser, and a used tape collector device collecting tape with reagent to which a sample has been supplied. The supply reel at a surface thereof includes a desiccant, or is completely made of a desiccant material. This provides such a large volume of desiccant that the correspondingly high moisture absorption capacity ensures along uninterrupted useful life of the sampling unit, and thus of the milking system.
