An analysis device that includes a placement section, a pressing member, and a measurement member, has an analysis kit including a chip provided with a capillary through which a sample flows and a cartridge superimposed on the chip, and in which a liquid reservoir placed therein to enable a component present in sample can be measured in a state in which the chip and the cartridge have been fitted together. The analysis kit is placed on the placement section. The pressing member presses the analysis kit in a direction in which the cartridge is superimposed on the chip to sandwich the analysis kit between the pressing member and the placement section, and to fit the chip and the cartridge together. The measurement member that measures the component present in the sample in the analysis kit in which the chip and the cartridge have been fitted together.

SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR MELTING CURVE NORMALIZATION

The present invention relates to methods for the analysis of nucleic acids present in biological samples, and more specifically to normalize a high resolution melt curve to assist in the identification of one or more properties of the nucleic acids. The present invention provides methods and systems that incorporate a background identification algorithm according to invention principles using raw melt curve data to identify reactions that are unrelated actual DNA melt reactions. Furthermore, a web-based application for analyzing experimental data is provided. The raw experimental data obtained from a variety of instruments is processed and analyzed on a server and presented to a user through a user interface (UI).

Opposables incorporating onboard reagents and automated specimen processing systems

The present disclosure is directed to opposables including a body having a plurality of cavities disposed therein. Each cavity can be designed to contain one or more reagents, liquids, or fluids which may be applied to a specimen-bearing surface. In some embodiments, the cavities include one or more reagent chambers, the reagent chambers can have one or more seals such that the reagents, liquids, or fluids contained therein may be stored and released to the specimen-bearing surface.

Methods, systems and solid compositions for reagent delivery

Methods, systems, and compositions featuring a solid, dissolvable reagent composition for delivering the reagent, such as an antibody, probe, chromogen, etc., to a sample. The present invention also features methods of producing said compositions, and automated systems featuring the use of the solid, dissolvable reagent compositions. The solid, dissolvable reagent composition may comprise a water-soluble polymer film, such as a polyvinyl alcohol film, infused with the reagent, wherein when applied to the sample, the water-soluble polymer film with reagent contacts the sample (e.g., tissue) and dissolves.

AUTOMATED HISTOLOGICAL PROCESSING OF BIOLOGICAL SPECIMENS AND ASSOCIATED TECHNOLOGY

Automated system configured to perform and methods for performing one or more slide processing operations on slides bearing biological samples. The system and methods enable high sample throughput while also minimizing or limiting the potential for cross-contamination of slides. The automated systems can include features that facilitate consistency, controllability of processing time, and/or processing temperature.

Automated analyzer

To provide an automated analyzer adapted for accommodating a larger number of reagent cassettes to meet calls for increases in analytical throughput and in the number of analytical items, and thus using the accommodated reagent cassettes more efficiently. An automated analyzer body 100 includes a main reagent buffer 4 for storing a plurality of reagent cassettes each containing a reagent used for analysis and a subsidiary reagent buffer 12. A reagent cassette transfer 11 transfers the reagent cassettes from the main reagent buffer to the subsidiary reagent buffer, and vice versa. A control unit 200 operates so that when a reagent cassette that is not set in the main reagent buffer is to be used for an assigned analysis, the reagent cassette for the assigned analysis is transferred from the subsidiary reagent buffer to the main reagent buffer.

INSTRUMENT FOR PROCESSING CARTRIDGE FOR PERFORMING ASSAYS IN A CLOSED SAMPLE PREPARATION AND REACTION SYSTEM

In one embodiment, a diagnostic system includes an instrument coupled to a client device and having at least one sample processing bay. The diagnostic system has a software architecture including instrument software (ISW) associated with the instrument. The ISW receives an assay definition file (ADF) that has a control file and an assay analysis module (AAM) file. The processing bay prepares and senses the sample according to parameters in the OPUS file and then generates sensor scan data. The diagnostic system then analyzes the sensor scan data and prepares a report according to the AAM file.

A cell smearing apparatus comprising: a mixed solution container accommodation unit accommodating a mixed solution container containing a mixed solution of cells and a preservation solution; a suction unit suctioning the mixed solution from the mixed solution container accommodated in the mixed solution container accommodation unit; a sensor unit sensing variation of the mixed solution suctioned by the suction unit; and a controller controlling a suctioning speed of the suction unit based on a value sensed by the sensor unit. The present invention allows cells to be examined to be smeared as a monolayer on a slide for microscopic examination.

PAPER TRANSIT TICKETS AS A MEDIUM FOR ENVIRONMENTAL SAMPLING

A method for conducting environmental sampling includes determining to environmentally sample a particular paper transit ticket for a specific residue. Using an automated ticket device, at least one chemical reagent is applied to the particular paper transit ticket. The chemical reagent is selected based on the specific residue. The particular paper transit ticket is collected after the particular paper transit ticket was used as a fare media within a transit system. The at least one chemical reagent is analyzed to determine whether any of the specific residue is present.
