SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR DIGITALIZATION, ANALYSIS AND STORAGE OF BIOLOGICAL SAMPLES
Biological samples are prepared on a slide for physician or veterinarian interpretation in a case of a diagnosis for human or animal diseases. The biological samples are specimens taken from certain areas or body fluids of human or animal. The biological samples are placed on the slide and are made ready for an examination without any process or after physical processes. Physicians or veterinarians diagnose by interpreting the biological samples over a microscope. Digitizing data, usage of data processing techniques and automatic reporting are activities reducing a workforce of expert physicians or veterinarians with a developing technology by abandoning manual methods. As digital pathology and hematology are main technical fields, a system and integrated methods about digitizing, analyzing and storing biological samples are given.
In situ heat induced antigen recovery and staining apparatus and method
Contemplated herein is an automated microscope slide antigen recovery and staining apparatus and method that features a plurality of individually operable miniaturized pressurizable reaction compartments for individually and independently processing a plurality of individual microscope slides. The apparatus preferably features independently movable slide support elements each having an individually heatable heating plate. Each slide support element may support a microscope slide. Each microscope slide can be enclosed within an individual pressurizable reaction compartment. Pressures exceeding 1 atm or below 1 atm can be created and maintained in the reaction compartment prior to, during or after heating of the slide begins. Because of the ability to pressurize and regulate pressure within the reaction compartment, and to individually heat each slide, each slide and a liquid solution or reagent thereon can be heated to temperatures that could not be obtained without the enclosed pressurized environment of the reaction compartment. A reagent dispensing strip having a plurality of reconfigurable reagent modules may also be used.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR PROCESSING BIOLOGICAL SPECIMENS
Method and system for processing biological specimens. For example, the method includes loading a plurality of biological specimens on a continuous substrate at a plurality of spaced-apart locations on the continuous substrate, attaching a plurality of wells to the continuous tape substrate corresponding to the plurality of spaced-apart locations where each well surrounds a respective biological specimen on the continuous substrate, performing one or more chemical processes on the respective biological specimen contained in the each well of the plurality of wells, and analyzing results of the one or more chemical processes on the respective biological specimen contained in the each well of the plurality of wells.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR SECTION TRANSFER
Provided here are systems and methods for microtomy, including a microtome and a transfer tape system. The microtome can be used for sectioning a tissue section from a tissue block. The transfer tape system can include a transfer tape configured to adhere to a front face of the tissue block and collect one or more tissue sections sectioned by the microtome and to transfer the one or more tissue sections to one or more slides; and at least one tension device for controlling tension and an angle of the transfer tape relative the tissue block or the one or more slides. The at least one tension device can be configured to maintain the transfer tape at a predetermined tension or maintain the transfer tape at a predetermined angle relative to the tissue block or the one or more slides.
DEVICE AND METHOD TO EVALUATE A FLUID SAMPLE ON A SINGLE-USE MULTIANALYTE CONSUMABLE
Single-use diagnostic consumables for use in performing multiple analyses on a fluid sample are provided. The diagnostic consumables include a first sensing region configured for analysis of at least one analyte in a fluid sample that has been received by the diagnostic consumable. The diagnostic consumable further includes a fluid transport material configured to flow a portion of the fluid sample into a second sensing region fluidically connected to the fluid transport material and configured for performing a second analysis of the fluid sample. Methods for performing multiple analyses of a fluid sample on a single-use diagnostic consumable are also provided.
ASSAY SYSTEM INCLUDING ASSAY APPARATUS AND HANDHELD SINGLE USE ASSAY DEVICES FOR USE THEREWITH
Assay system including assay apparatus and handheld single use assay devices for ElectroMagnetic Radiation (EMR) examination of a specimen. The assay devices include a housing, a specimen slide for elevation from an initial lowermost specimen introduction position to a final uppermost specimen examination position and a built-in liquid reagent dispensing arrangement for dispensing liquid reagent on the specimen slide. The assay apparatus automatically actuates an assay device and includes an imaging arrangement for obtaining specimen images.
INSTRUMENT FOR PERFORMING A DIAGNOSTIC TEST ON A FLUIDIC CARTRIDGE
Instrument for performing a diagnostic test on a fluidic cartridge A cartridge reader is for carrying out a diagnostic test on a sample contained in a fluidic cartridge inserted into the reader. The fluidic cartridge comprises a fluidic layer comprising at least one sample processing region, at least one collapsible blister containing a liquid reagent, a pneumatic interface, an electrical interface and at least one mechanical valve. The reader comprises a housing; an upper clamp occupying a fixed position relative to the reader, and a lower clamp, movable relative to the first clamp, wherein the upper clamp and the lower clamp define a cartridge receiving region therebetween. The reader comprises a thermal module comprised in the lower clamp, wherein the thermal module comprises at least one thermal stack for heating the at least one sample processing region of the cartridge inserted into the reader. The reader comprises at least one mechanical actuator for actuating the mechanical valve comprised in the cartridge inserted into the reader.
MICROFLUIDIC CONNECTOR GROUP, MICROFLUIDIC DEVICE AND MANUFACTURING PROCESS THEREOF, IN PARTICULAR FOR A CARTRIDGE FOR SAMPLE PREPARATION AND MOLECULE ANALYSIS
A microfluidic group includes a female connector and a male needle connector. The female connector has a connector chamber in a containment body; a duct extending in the containment body to a duct opening on a first face of the connector chamber; a needle entry hole extending from a lateral face of the containment body to a second face, not facing the first face of the connector chamber; and a gasket arranged in the connector chamber. The gasket has a side wall internally delimiting a cavity and extending in part adjacent to the second face of the connector chamber. The cavity of the gasket faces the first face of the connector chamber.
Methods for heating microscope slides carrying specimens
A slide processing apparatus controls the temperature and orientation of a microscope slide carrying one or more specimens. The apparatus heats the specimen-bearing microscope slide while the slide is oriented to both facilitate adhesion between the specimens and the slide and control movement of the specimens relative to the microscope slide. A slide dryer of the apparatus conductively heats the specimens using a conductive slide heater that physically engages the microscope slide.
