Analyzing Drill Cuttings Using Ultraviolet Oil Fluorescence
An analysis tool that use ultraviolet wavelengths of oil fluorescence to analyze drill cuttings. An oil fluorescence tool includes an ultraviolet light source which directs ultraviolet light toward drilled cuttings. The interaction of the light and cuttings results in fluorescence emanating from the oil. These wavelengths are recognized by a camera which generates an image showing the intensity of the fluorescence. A computer having image recognition software is coupled to the camera in order to interpret and display the intensity and range of the fluorescence in the image.
TERAHERTZ WAVE SPECTROMETRY SYSTEM
Provided is a terahertz wave spectrometry system that is capable of easily identifying and quantitating an analyzing target molecule in an analyte, even if the analyte contains water, by calculating a baseline function expressing the absorption characteristic of water peculiar to the terahertz wave.
SAMPLE PROCESSING FOR MICROSCOPY
In some instances, an apparatus can include a light sensitive imaging sensor having a surface to receive a fluid sample, a body to be moved relative to the light sensitive imaging sensor and having a surface to touch a portion of the fluid sample, and a carrier to move the body toward the surface of the light sensitive imaging sensor to cause the surface of the body to touch the portion of the fluid sample, so that as the surface of the body touches the portion of the fluid, the surface of the body (i) is parallel to the surface of the light sensitive imaging sensor, and (ii) settles on top of the fluid sample independently of motion of the carrier.
DETERMINING FOOD IDENTITIES WITH INTRA-ORAL SPECTROMETER DEVICES
Devices, methods, computer-readable media, and systems for determining an identity of a food are disclosed. For example, a method may receive at least one property of at least one component in a sample of a food from an intra-oral device including a spectrometer, the at least one property obtained via the spectrometer, compares the at least one property to a plurality of food signatures, and determines the identity of the food based upon the comparing. In another example, a system may include an intra-oral device and a wireless device. The intra-oral device may include a spectrometer for measuring at least one property of at least one component in a sample of a food. The wireless device may include a processor for receiving the at least one property, comparing the at least one property to a plurality of food signatures, and determining the identity of the food based upon the comparing.
Method and apparatus for determining object characteristics
Embodiments of the invention provide a method of determining one or more characteristics of a target object, comprising recording one or more diffraction patterns at a detector, wherein each diffraction pattern is formed by a target object scattering incident radiation, determining a phase map for at least a region of the target object based on the one or more diffraction patterns, and determining a refractive property of the target object based on the phase map.
Biosensor based on measurements of the clustering dynamics of magnetic particles
Disclosed herein is a biosensor for optical detection of Brownian relaxation dynamics of magnetic particles measured by light transmission. The magnetic particles can be functionalized with biological ligands for the detection of target analytes in a sample.
Foodstuff analysis device
Provided is a foodstuff analysis device capable of readily calculating calories or component weights. The foodstuff analysis device has a light-emitting unit, a light-receiving section, and a control unit. The light-emitting unit irradiates light including at least some wavelengths among wavelengths in the range 700-1,100 nm, on to an analysis target. The light-receiving section receives light reflected from the analysis target. The control unit calculates the absorbance of light received by the light-receiving section, and calculates the calories of the analysis target on the basis of the calculated absorbance and on the basis of the correlation between absorbance and calories.
Systems and methods for detecting the presence of a contaminant
In some embodiments, a system for detecting the presence of a contaminant on a surface includes an infrared light source configured to shine infrared light on the surface, an infrared light detector configured to detect infrared light reflected from the surface, and a computing device configured to receive an infrared reflectance signal from the infrared light detector and detect the presence of the contaminant from a feature in the reflectance signal.
Semiconductor Metrology With Information From Multiple Processing Steps
Methods and systems for measuring process induced errors in a multiple patterning semiconductor fabrication process based on measurements of a specimen and process information from one or more previous process steps employed to fabricate the specimen are presented herein. A metrology tool is employed after a number of process steps have been executed. The metrology tool measures structural parameters of interest of metrology targets on the wafer based on measured signals and process information, and communicates correctable process parameter values to one or more process tools involved in the previous process steps. When executed by the appropriate process tool, the correctable process parameter values reduce process induced errors in the geometry of the structures fabricated by the process flow. In another aspect, multiple metrology tools are used to control a fabrication process in combination with process information from one or more process steps in the process flow.
Apparatus and method for identifying foreign bodies in an inductive charging system
An apparatus and method for identifying foreign objects in an inductive charging system having a charging unit and a vehicle for inductive charging, in which the charging unit includes a primary coil and the vehicle has a secondary coil in order to transmit electrical power from the primary coil to the secondary coil during a charging operation. The vehicle includes a camera system, and a camera control unit. The camera system captures at least one image of the charging unit when the vehicle approaches the charging unit, at the beginning of a charging operation and/or during a charging operation. The camera control unit digitally processes the at least one captured image in order to detect a foreign body located on the charging unit.
