System and method for detecting fire location

A fire detection system includes at least two fire detectors having a partially overlapping view of a fire. The at least two fire detectors are configured to acquire fire cluster information related to the fire. A validation and pairing module pairs fire clusters detected by the at least two fire detectors for the fire. The validation and pairing module is configured to validate the paired fire clusters according to a validation process that ensures that the pair corresponds to a fire. A triangulation module determines a three-dimensional fire location for the fire based on the fire cluster information related to the validated fire cluster pairs.

Non-contact system and method for detecting fluid flow

A plumbing fixture assembly including a fluid flow detection system for monitoring fluid flow and flow characteristics through plumbing fixtures without contacting the fluid. The fluid flow detection system communicates collected data related to the plumbing fixtures to a water management system, which analyzes the data and provides information to a user through a portal and user interface. The fluid flow detection system also tracks users of the plumbing fixtures for compliance with a hand washing routine. The hand washing compliance data is communicated to the water management system as well.

Power control unit with remote sensor

An electrical control system may include a sensor unit with an attachment mechanism for mounting the sensor unit to a fluid pipe, a fluid flow sensor, and a signal generator configured to generate a signal indicating at least one of whether the flow sensor detects a fluid flow in the fluid pipe or whether the flow sensor detects no fluid flow in the fluid pipe. The system may also include a control unit having one or more of an electrical plug, an electrical socket, an interruptible circuit between the electrical plug and the electrical socket, a receiving device configured to receive the signal from the sensor unit, and a processor configured to interrupt the circuit between the electrical plug and the electrical socket based on at least one of receipt of the signal or interruption of the signal.

APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR MEASURING AIR FLOW

An apparatus and method for measuring air flow in a duct, e.g. in a ventilation duct, includes a sensor fittable into connection with the duct, the sensor including an ultrasound transmitter and at least two ultrasound receivers, and a control unit to which the ultrasound transmitter and ultrasound receivers are connectable. The control unit is adapted to measure, during the measuring of air flow, the phase difference of an ultrasound signal received at the same moment in time by at least two ultrasound receivers fitted into connection with the duct and, based on the measured phase difference, to determine the flow velocity and/or flow direction of the air. The apparatus is adapted to perform a calibration of the apparatus by transmitting with an ultrasound transmitter at least one calibration signal and by receiving the calibration signal with at least two ultrasound receivers. The apparatus is further adapted to analyze the received calibration signal and based on the analysis to select the parameters to be used in measuring to be such that at least one analysis result of the calibration signal meets predetermined criteria with the parameters.

Wind turbine including sensor assembly and method of operating such

A wind turbine includes a hub configured to rotate about an axis at a first rotation speed and at least one blade coupled to the hub. The wind turbine also includes a sensor assembly configured to detect at least one characteristic of wind flowing through the wind turbine. The sensor assembly is mounted to the hub. The sensor assembly includes a laser device configured to emit a laser beam and at least one optical element configured to direct the laser beam. The sensor assembly also includes a non-motorized mechanism configured to rotate the at least one optical element at a second rotation speed when the hub rotates at the first rotation speed. The second rotation speed is greater than the first rotation speed.

FLUID MEASURING DEVICE

This fluid measuring device is provided with: an irradiation unit that irradiates a fluid with light; a light receiving unit that receives light scattered by the fluid; a detecting unit that detects a backflow of the fluid on the basis of a light reception signal from the light receiving unit; and a calculating unit that calculates, on the basis of the detection result by the detection unit and the light reception signal from the light receiving unit, estimated fluid information indicating the flow rate or flow speed of the fluid. Accordingly, even when a backflow of the fluid temporarily occurs, the flow speed of the fluid can be precisely measured.

DISCLOSING MOVEMENT
20190234987 · 2019-08-01 ·

A medium such as an ink or sealant for disclosing movement is provided. Also provided are a tape having the medium applied to it, and a method of disclosing movement of one or more elements. The medium is applicable as a settable liquid or paste to components, such as a nut and bolt or a flexible hydraulic hose, for which untightening or kinking movement is to be detected. The medium has an appearance, e.g. color, and contains distributed microspheres containing a second liquid having a different, usually much brighter, appearance. Once the medium is set, unwanted movement, such as untightening of the nut or kinking of the hose, will fracture the microspheres and the second liquid will be released to transform the appearance of the medium and alert an observer.
