A shaping device for manufacturing the inductively heatable aerosol-forming rods is also provided, the shaping device including a core-forming device, a sleeve-forming device, and a longitudinal guide.

An inductively heatable aerosol-generating article for an inductively heating aerosol-generating device is provided, including at least one aerosol-forming substrate and at least one susceptor in thermal proximity to the aerosol-forming substrate or thermal contact with the aerosol-forming substrate, the susceptor including an expanded metal sheet including a plurality of openings through the sheet. A cartridge is provided for use with an apparatus for heating smokable material. The cartridge has a housing defining a chamber and a pouch containing smokable material. The pouch is located within the chamber. At least part of the pouch is made of porous material for permitting aerosol or volatilized material generated within the pouch to pass out of the pouch from within the pouch. There is also provided a pouch having a first wall and a second wall. The pouch contains smokable material between the first wall and the second wall. A method of manufacturing a pouch is also disclosed in which the first wall is attached to the second wall with smokable material between the first wall and second wall.

A method of manufacturing a smoking article including a tube filter includes preparing a smoking material portion, a first tube filter flavored by a first flavoring liquid, and a mouthpiece flavored by a second flavoring liquid; and combining and packaging the smoking material portion, the first tube filter, and the mouthpiece with a wrapper, wherein the preparing comprises applying the first flavoring liquid inside the first tube filter through a hollow of the first tube filter.

A method of manufacturing a smoking article including a tube filter includes preparing a smoking material portion, a first tube filter flavored by a first flavoring liquid, and a mouthpiece flavored by a second flavoring liquid; and combining and packaging the smoking material portion, the first tube filter, and the mouthpiece with a wrapper, wherein the preparing comprises applying the first flavoring liquid inside the first tube filter through a hollow of the first tube filter.

The invention relates to a casting apparatus (1) for the production of a cast sheet (10) of homogenized tobacco material, said casting system comprising: ⋅a casting box (4) adapted to contain a slurry of the homogenized tobacco material; ⋅a movable support (7); ⋅a casting system adapted to deposit the slurry contained in the casting box (4) onto the movable support (7) so as to form the cast sheet (10); ⋅a sensor (30) to detect a thickness of the cast sheet (10); ⋅wherein the sensor (30) includes a slider (33) comprising a planar surface (36) adapted to be in contact to a top surface of the cast sheet and a height detector (38) adapted to measure the height of the planar surface (36) so as to derive the thickness of the cast sheet (10). The invention also relates to a method to measure the thickness of a homogenized tobacco sheet (10).
