Athletic collar
A device includes a collar and at least one pad. The collar is configured for wearing by a user, the collar having a plurality of pad receptacles. The at least one pad is configured for coupling with a selected one of the plurality of pad receptacles, the pad having an elastic portion configured to limit movement of a user.
Dual functioning head protection device
A dual functioning head protection device for a fall prone user including a c-shaped neck collar that is configured to compress the jugular veins of the user during application to the user's neck and an expandable airbag helmet that is removably affixed to the collar. The airbag helmet includes an inflatable inner bag surrounded by an outer bag, such that the structure of the outer bag defines a shape of the airbag helmet when the inner bag is inflated. The inner bag includes a number of chambers which inflate to protect the user's skull during a fall. A trigger device in the collar detects if the user is falling and inflates the airbag helmet in such instances. This dual functioning device also protects the user's brain from brain slosh because of the collar's compression of the user's jugular veins. Compression of the vein sends blood into the skull with each fall impact, which reduces the brain's freedom to jostle around in the skull in a fall.
Weatherproof protective gear for cycling
A weatherproof protective gear for cycling is an apparatus which keeps the user refreshed, the upper body dry, and facilitates breathing in different weather conditions. The apparatus may include a full-head helmet, a face shield, a length-adjustable collar, a sleeveless torso shroud, a portable airflow system, and an exhaust snorkel. The full-head helmet protects the user's head while also facilitating airflow around the head from the portable airflow system. The face shield protects the user's face from the environment and facilitates vision in most weather conditions. The length-adjustable collar hermetically connects the full-head helmet to the sleeveless torso shroud to maintain a sealed environment. The sleeveless torso shroud protects the chest and the user's back from the environment and maintains the upper torso refreshed by the portable airflow system. Finally, the exhaust snorkel allows the user to breathe while wearing the present invention.
Non-newtonian materials for the prevention of mild traumatic brain injury
An improved design for an athletic helmet incorporating non-Newtonian fluid shock absorbing structures.
HELMET STABILIZATION APPARATUS
A helmet stabilization system and apparatus for reducing the incidence of whiplash and neck injuries while wearing a helmet, such as in contact sports. The invention includes a helmet mount; a base mount configured for attachment to a shoulder harness; and a flex rod interconnectable between the helmet mount and the base mount. The flex rod, when interconnected between the helmet mount and the base mount provides a resistance to an extension or a compression sequence responsive to a contact imparted on the helmet. An oobleck may be provided in a coupling between the flex rod and the base mount to permit voluntary head movements of the user and to provide a resistance responsive to an impact force.
SYSTEM FOR MITIGATING MUSCULOSKELETAL STRESSES FROM HEAD-RELATED MOMENTS EXERTED ON A PERSON
In an aspect, a stress mitigation system is provided for mitigating stresses in a wearer of a headgear configured to apply a load on the wearer that is offset from a CG of a wearer's head. The system includes a first and second cable segments, and a tensioning device. Each cable segment has a first end and a second end, mounted to one of the headgear and the bodywear member respectively. The first ends are laterally inboard and vertically spaced from the second ends. During pivoting of the head in a first direction, the first cable segment changes orientation towards vertical and the second cable segment changes orientation towards horizontal, and during pivoting movement of the head in a second direction. The tensioning device increases tension in any cable segment that changes orientation towards vertical, and reduces tension in any cable segment that changes orientation towards horizontal.
HELMET WITH INTEGRATED SHOULDER PAD
A helmet body includes an outer shell and an energy management liner with an outer shell lower edge extending between the inner surface and the outer surface of the outer shell. At least two shoulder pad recesses are positioned at a lower edge of the outer shell on a respective left and right sides of the helmet. The energy management liner is adjacent to the inner surface of the outer shell and includes at least two shoulder pads formed of a foamed energy management material. Each of the at least two shoulder pads is received into one of the at least two shoulder pad recesses on the respective left or right side of the helmet, each shoulder pad extending from inside of the outer shell to across at least a majority of a width of the lower edge of the outer shell.
Head and neck restraining system with an adjustable tether
A head and neck restraining system includes a helmet, a neck brace structure, and a tether system. The neck brace structure includes a neck extension that is attached to shoulder extensions. The tether system includes a single tether with double thickness terminal ends. The double thickness terminal ends have a plurality of pass-through openings that are adapted to receive a removable securing pin that threadably secures the tether to the neck brace. The tether also secures the helmet to the neck brace and limits its range of motion during an accident. The tether is removable secured to the neck brace on one side then extends from the neck brace to the helmet, then continues from the helmet to the back of the neck brace, then continues further from the back of the neck brace to the opposite side of the helmet, and then is removable secured to the other side of the neck brace. The tether may be slidably or fixedly attached to the helmet and neck brace.
Helmet system
A helmet system includes: a helmet shell; right and left bottom guards; a head strap comprising a head band and a plurality of flexible tethers, including a main tether stem and a tether connector, including a connector stem and a connector blocking member, such that the flexible tethers protrude from an outer periphery of the head band and are connected to tether apertures in the helmet shell. The head band can optionally include an opening with a band lock, and right and left upward curved sections. The helmet system can optionally include shoulder pads.
CONCUSSION REDUCING/ENERGY TRANSFERRING HELMET AND SHOULDER SYSTEM
A head protection device includes a head cradle portion and a force transfer/energy absorbing collar portion. The head cradle portion is spaced from adjacent and out of contact with the collar portion in normal operation and in contact with the collar portion upon impact of predetermined force, transferring the force and associated energy around the head cradle portion and dissipating the energy.
