Compressible Damping System for Head Protection
20170027267 · 2017-02-02 ·

A system for protecting a head of a wearer from an impact force includes a helmet defining an interior space for housing the head and at least one damper coupled to the helmet at a first end and extending therefrom along a longitudinal axis to a second end. The damper includes of a plurality compressible energy damper elements concentrically arranged about the longitudinal axis. The plurality of compressible energy damper elements includes an outer damper element and an inner damper element. The outer damper element surrounds the inner damper element and extends to the second end of the damper. The outer damper element has a first uncompressed length and the inner element has a second uncompressed length that is different from the first uncompressed length. Alternatively, the plurality of compressible damper elements are concentrically arranged and are arranged end to end in series.

Helmet with integrated electronic components

A helmet that can include a helmet body comprising an energy absorption layer and an outer shell. A first opening can be formed through the outer shell and extend into the energy absorbing layer, the first opening including a perimeter. A first sleeve can be disposed at least partially within the first opening, the first sleeve including a first end including a first flange coupled to the outer shell and extending beyond the perimeter of the first opening, and a second end opposite the first end including a base disposed over the energy absorption layer. A camera can be coupled to the first sleeve and exposed through the first opening. The helmet can further include the first sleeve including a depth greater than a width or a length. The first flange can be directly coupled to an outer surface or an inner of the outer shell.

A helmet including an outer shell and a holding device which includes a perimeter forming a closed loop, at least two straps attached to the perimeter and/or to the shell and a support cushion. The holding device further includes a force absorber provided with at least three orifices for the passage of at least one strap, each orifice connecting a first and a second face of the force absorber. At least one strap passes successively through a first orifice, a second orifice and a third orifice, extending on the first face between the first orifice and the second orifice and on the second face between the second orifice and the third orifice. The strap is folded 180 around an edge of the second orifice.

IMPACT ABSORBING HELMET

The present disclosure relates to an impact absorbing helmet design that uses springs oriented in the opposite direction of relative movement between the head and the helmet to absorb linear and rotational impacts. These springs will increase the total amount of work being done by the helmet and increase the time of impact, reducing the acceleration experienced by the brain when compared to current helmets on the market. The helmet is constructed and arranged to effectively absorb rotational forces on the head because of a rotationally independent inner lining and outer shell attached by springs.

Protective sports helmet with additively manufactured components

The invention relates to a multi-step method with a number of processes and sub-processes that interact to allow for the selection, design and/or manufacture of a protective sports helmet for a specific player, or a recreational sports helmet for a specific person wearing the helmet. Once the desired protective sports helmet or recreational sports helmet is selected, information is collected from the individual player or wearer regarding the shape of his/her head and information about the impacts he/she has received while participating in the sport or activity. The collected information is processed to develop a bespoke energy attenuation assembly for use in the protective helmet. The energy attenuation assembly includes at least one energy attenuation member with a unique structural makeup and/or chemical composition. The energy attenuation assembly is purposely engineered to improve comfort and fit, as well as how the helmet responds when an impact or series of impacts are received by the helmet.

PROTECTIVE SPORTS HELMET

A protective football helmet is provided having a one-piece molded shell with an impact attenuation system. This system includes an impact attenuation member formed in an extent of the front shell portion by removing material from the front portion. The impact attenuation member is purposely engineered to change how the front portion responds to an impact force applied substantially normal to the front portion as compared to how other portions of the shell respond to that impact force. In one version, the impact attenuation member is a cantilevered segment formed in the front portion of the shell.

SAFETY HELMET

A protective helmet comprising a shell with an internal halo band and a sub assembly comprising of a shock absorber panel located in use intermediate the shell and the head of the wearer over reduce transfer of shock forces encountered by the shell to the head of the wearer. The sub assembly also comprises of framing, secured to the halo band and extending from the halo band to the shock absorber panel to releasably secure the shock absorber panel to the halo. The sub assembly is able to be removed from the shell for cleaning and replacement purposes.
