Ball grid array current meter with a current sense wire

Electrical current flow in a ball grid array (BGA) package can be measured by an apparatus including an integrated circuit (IC) electrically connected to the BGA package. Solder balls connect the BGA package to a printed circuit board (PCB) and are arranged to provide a contiguous channel for a current sense wire. A subset of solder balls is electrically connected to supply current from the PCB through the BGA package to the IC. The current sense wire is attached to the upper surface of the PCB, within the contiguous channel, and surrounds the subset of solder balls. An amplifier is electrically connected to the current sense wire ends to amplify a voltage induced on the current sense wire by current flow into the BGA package. A sensing analog-to-digital converter (ADC) is electrically connected to convert a voltage at the output of the amplifier into digital output signals.

A current sensor that is less affected by the residual magnetization is provided. A current sensor of the present invention has a magnetic circuit that is magnetized by electric current; a first magnetic field detecting element that is positioned where a magnetic field, when the electric current is present, is directed in a same direction as a magnetic field that is caused by residual magnetization of the magnetic circuit when the electric current is not present; and a second magnetic field detecting element that is positioned where a magnetic field, when the electric current is present, is directed opposite to a direction of a magnetic field that is caused by residual magnetization of the magnetic circuit when the electric current is not present.

The present application provides a current detection circuit, chip, and current detection method used for speaker protection; by means of a current detection module, power tube current mirroring technology is used to perform sampling of a speaker current and convert the current to a voltage so as to output a first voltage signal and a second voltage signal; the design of the circuit does not increase the power loss of a Class_D circuit. Furthermore, in combination with an analog-to-digital converter, the first voltage signal and the second voltage signal are converted into PDM codes to as to calculate to obtain the current value parameter on the speaker; the effective bits may be as high as 13 bits; even though the output power of a Class_D is very large, there is no need to increase the anti-cut top distortion function, and the magnitude of the speaker current can also be detected normally.

A monitoring set-up to detect supply-line faults for a control unit, including at least two internal current-carrying supply lines, which are redundant with respect to each other, are situated inside of the control unit, and are connected electrically, on one end, to external supply lines, respectively, and, on the other end, to a common, internal supply-potential layer of the control unit; a signal detector, which inductively picks up a flow of current through the individual internal supply lines and outputs at least one corresponding measuring signal; and an evaluation and control unit, which evaluates the at least one measuring signal to detect supply-line faults. A method of detecting supply-line faults for a control unit, using such a monitoring set-up, is also described.

METHOD FOR DETERMINING A CURRENT FLOWING THROUGH AT LEAST ONE SWITCHING ELEMENT, ELECTRICAL CIRCUIT ARRANGEMENT, AND MOTOR VEHICLE
20220381806 · 2022-12-01 ·

A method determines a current flowing through at least one switching element of an electrical circuit arrangement. When the switching element is turned on the current flows through a switchable portion of the switching element. The switching element is associated with a temperature sensor and a voltage sensor. The temperature sensor measures a temperature of the switching element and the voltage sensor measures a voltage drop across the switchable portion of the switching element. The temperature sensor and the voltage sensor are connected to a computing device. The computing device determines a current value of the current based on the measured temperature and the measured voltage drop.
