UTILITY METER FOR USE WITH DISTRIBUTED GENERATION DEVICE
An integrated metering device allows a resource provider to control the output of a distributed generation device onto a resource distribution network or grid. The integrated metering device may include a communications module, a metrology module, an inverter and regulator device, and a transfer switch. A resource provider may communicate with the integrated metering device via the communications module and may control the inverter and regulator device or the transfer switch. The metrology module may monitor the energy provided by the distributed generation device to the grid and may send information about the generated energy to the resource provider via the communications module.
Power meter with emulation capability
A power meter includes a plurality of first terminals for receiving a measure of current and a plurality of second terminals for receiving a measure of voltage of each of one or more phases of power that is delivered to the load. A controller is configured to determine a number of power monitor parameters based on the measure of current of each of one or more phases of power that is delivered to the load and/or the measure of voltage of each of one or more phases of power that is delivered to the load. The power meter includes an I/O interface for communicating one or more of the power monitor parameters over a network using a configurable mapping that maps the power monitor parameters with corresponding addressable locations.
MICROCONTROLLER ENERGY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
A microcontroller system which employs an intermediate approach in hybrid FRAM-SRAM that involves memory mapping of program sections to retain the reliability benefits provided by FRAM while performing almost as efficiently as an SRAM-based system. They system utilizes an energy-aware memory mapping method which maps different program sections to the hybrid FRAM-SRAM MCU such that energy consumption is minimized without sacrificing reliability. The method comprises a memory initialization map, which performs a one-time characterization to find the optimal memory map for the functions that constitute a program. The method further comprises an energy alignment, a hardware/software method that aligns the system's powered-on time intervals to function execution boundaries, which results in further improvements in energy efficiency and performance.

Switch-mode power supply control circuit and method for tampering detection in a power meter
One or more embodiments relate to a switch-mode power supply control circuit that can be used to provide power to regular single phase or three phase energy meter, while also offering a simple low cost method to detect a magnetic tampering event that usually occurs on energy meter. In one example, the switch-mode power supply for the energy meter is a flyback type switch mode power supply comprising a power switch, a switching controller, and a slew rate based magnetic field detection circuit which is configured to enable a magnetic tampering detection signal that can be communicated to the switching controller. Upon detection of a magnetic tampering event, the power supply and the supporting circuitry can raise the switching frequency of the power switch in order to provide more power to the output or cutoff power to the consumer's power outlet and even report the tampering event to the power station.
Meter and socket for use with a distributed energy resource device
An electric meter socket includes a first connection path within the electric meter socket to form a first electrical connection between a distributed energy resource (DER) meter and line voltage wirings from an electric distribution system. The electric meter socket further includes a second connection path within the electric meter socket to form a second electrical connection between the DER meter and neutral wires of the electric distribution system, a DER device, and a load. Additionally, the electric meter socket includes a third connection path within the electric meter socket to form a third electrical connection between the DER meter and output voltage wirings of the DER device. Further, the electric meter socket includes a DER connector positioned on a side of the electric meter socket to receive the output voltage wirings of the DER device and to electrically couple the output voltage wirings to the third connection path.
Service switch with high current arc protection
An arrangement for use in a utility meter includes an actuator element configured for linear movement. The actuator is operably coupled to receiving moving power from a prime mover, and includes a plurality of receptacles for corresponding contact arms of a switch within an electricity meter. Each receptacle is defined by an outer bar, an inner bar, and opposing stiffening elements. The outer bar is configured to engage a first surface of a contact arm element when the switch is in a first position, and the inner bar configured to engage a second surface of the contact arm element when the switch is in a second position.
METER AND METHOD FOR DETERMINING METER READINGS AND METHOD FOR THE WIRELESS TRANSMISSION OF ELECTRICAL ENERGY
A meter includes a hermetically encapsulated electronic metering mechanism having a meter unit for the determination of meter readings, the metering mechanism including a data memory for storing the meter readings, and the metering unit including an antenna of a defined shape, and a readout unit arranged outside the metering mechanism for reading the meter readings from the data memory. The meter is operated according to a method for the determination of meter readings and for the wireless transmission of electrical energy. The shape of the readout unit antenna is identical to the shape of the metering unit antenna, wherein the congruent and predefined positioning of the readout unit antenna ensures an effective wireless energy supply to the metering unit by electromagnetic radiation through the readout unit, and, independently thereof, a stable wireless data coupling for the determination of meter readings between the metering unit and the readout unit.
