The apparatus determines, based on the change, that an electrical fault has occurred in one of the two or more electric power conductors. Embodiments of the inventive wrist-band voltage detector include monopole aerials positioned in each side of the wrist band. A thin flexible dielectric layer may sit between the aerials and inside of the wrist band, acting as an electrical barrier between the aerials and the user's wrist. The aerials are connected to conventional voltage detector circuitry on a circuit board located on the top side of the wrist band. The circuit board is grounded to the user's wrist, which enhances the circuitry's ability to detect the presence of nearby AC voltage at a safe distance.
