Closure components for a helmet layer and methods for installing same
A protective component for a helmet includes a liner or shell that is coupleable with the helmet so that the liner or shell is positioned on an interior surface of the helmet. The liner or shell is made of a low-friction material and is coupled with the helmet so that the liner or shell is moveable relative to the helmet in response to a force being exerted on the helmet. A rear support member is removably coupled with the liner or shell and a tightening mechanism is attached to the rear support member. The tightening mechanism is configured to tension a tension member and thereby tighten the liner or shell, and the helmet, about the wearer's head.
HELMET FIT SYSTEM
A helmet fit system includes a harness, a first anchor and a second anchor secured to a helmet, a tensioning mechanism, and a cable passing from the mechanism, around the first anchor, through the harness, and around the second anchor. The tensioning mechanism is not secured to any portion of the harness. The harness may define a channel, the cable passing through the channel. The tensioning mechanism is mounted to the outer surface of a helmet on the first side of a plane of symmetry of the helmet such that the cable passes through the helmet.
Bicycle helmet fit system
The present invention provides a helmet comprising a main body having a concave interior for receiving a user's head, a head strap coupled to the body, and an adjustment mechanism coupled to the head strap. The head strap is positioned in a loop that spans at least 1.5 wraps around the interior of the main body. Preferably, the head strap is fully recessed into the concave interior of the main body. The head strap can include an occipital pad and a flexible belt (e.g., two flexible belts) secured to the occipital pad and engaged with the adjustment mechanism. Preferably, at least a portion of the flexible belt is spaced rearward from the occipital pad. The helmet can further include a belt guide (e.g., two side belt guides and a front belt guide) secured to the main body and adapted to allow the head strap to slide through the belt guide.
Ballistic helmet with an accessory system
The disclosure provides a ballistic helmet and a method of assembling a ballistic helmet that includes a helmet shell and a harness connected to the helmet shell. The helmet shell includes a front portion and a rear portion. The harness includes a nape pad, a tensioner disposed on the nape pad, a plurality of securement straps, and a tension cable. The plurality of securement straps are connected to the nape pad and are configured to fasten to the rear portion of the helmet shell. The tension cable is selectively adjustable by the tensioner and is configured to fasten to the front portion of the helmet shell.
Protective helmet and method for adjusting a protective helmet
A protective helmet includes a head support fixed to a crown. The head support forms a U shape with a frontal part fixed to the frontal part of the crown. The two ends of the head support are fixed to the side walls of the crown via two attachment points. First adjustment parts adjust the length of the head support between the two attachment points and the distance separating it from the frontal part of the crown. A neckband is fixed to the occipital part of the crown and is fitted in movable manner. Second adjustment parts of the neckband adjust the distance between the neckband and the frontal part of the head support.
Composite devices and methods for providing protection against traumatic tissue injury
Articles including protective gear for a variety of sports and activities provide protection from one or both of linear and angular forces that either directly or indirectly impact the gear when it is donned. The articles include at least two layers of material that provide multimodal energy dissipation to minimize the extent of transmission of impact forces to tissue.

Cycling helmet
A cycling helmet includes an outer shell and a closed cell foam layer adjacent to the outer shell. The cycling helmet also includes an inner liner adjacent to the closed cell foam layer. The cycling helmet further includes an insert of energy absorbing material adjacent to the inner liner. The insert is configured to move in multiple directions in response to an impact to the cycling helmet.
