Systems for position determination using an energy chain for guiding supply lines, which energy chain has a movable run which is fixed at an end to a driver and a stationary run wherein the driver moves back and forth along a track. The system has a sensor device for position determination, which is attached to the driver. In one variant, the system comprises guide components, arranged along the track, for lateral guidance of the energy chain of which components at least one has a reference component acting as a position reference. In another variant of the system, at least each nth chain link of the energy chain has at least one reference component attached thereto. In both variants, the sensor device for position determination interacts with individual reference components, which allows better and more reliable determination of the current position.

Location detection using a single beacon
Disclosed is a method of location identification using a single beacon. The method comprises determining a first distance between a beacon and a first sensor, where the first sensor is embedded in a mobile device. It also includes determining a second distance between the beacon and a second sensor, where the second sensor is embedded in the mobile device. The method also includes defining a vector, where the vector has a magnitude equal to the distance between the first and second sensor, and a direction pointing from the first sensor to the second sensor. The method further includes calculating a plurality of potential locations. The method then determines the actual location.
METHODS AND SYSTEMS FOR SCHEDULING THE TRANSMISSION OF LOCALIZATION SIGNALS AND OPERATING SELF-LOCALIZING APPARATUS
Localization systems and methods for transmitting timestampable localization signals from anchors according to one or more transmission schedules. The transmission schedules may be generated and updated to achieve desired positioning performance. For example, one or more anchors may transmit localization signals at a different rate than other anchors, the anchor transmission order can be changed, and the signals can partially overlap. In addition, different transmission parameters may be used to transmit two localization signals at the same time without interference. A self-localizing apparatus is able to receive the localization signals and determine its position. The self-localizing apparatus may have a configurable receiver that can select to receive one of multiple available localization signals. The self-localizing apparatuses may have a pair of receivers able to receive two localization signals at the same time. A bridge anchor may be provided to enable a self-localizing apparatus to seamlessly transition between two localization systems.

Disclosed embodiments relate, generally, to beacon systems where a locator beacon is used as a marker for a location of interest, and improving false positive immunity in such beacon systems. Confiner beacons are included in such beacon systems to confine a triggering area for triggering a location indication for a location of interest marked by a locator beacon. In other embodiments, arbitrarily shaped triggering areas are defined using confiner beacons. In other embodiments, errant locator signals are identified and handled (e.g., ignored).

Reflection data of a radar beacon combination is received, a distance from a target object to each beacon is determined based on the reflection data, and position information of the target object is determined based on a distance from the target object to each beacon and pre-stored position information of each beacon. Thus, accurate position information may be provided where a satellite positioning signal of the target object is weak or there is no satellite positioning signal.
