An impact attenuation helmet construction having a rigid outer shell, a rigid inner shell adapted to being worn upon a wearer's head and arranged a spatially separated distance from the outer shell. A plurality of resilient plasticized members, each having circular cross sectional profiles, are provided and extend between the inner and outer shells in a three dimensional array in order to spatially support said outer shell a distance from an outer surface of said inner shell. The resilient members include any of disk or sphere shaped components, each having outer and inner flattened mounting locations securing to opposing locations of the inner and outer shells.

A football helmet with shell, faceguard, padding and comfort liner system, has replaceable nose bumpers for connecting a top center of the faceguard to the shell, button and keyhole connectors connecting the liner to an inner surface of the padding and T-nut connectors for connecting the padding to an inner surface of the shell. Front portions of the comfort liner have harder foam cushions than other portions of the liner to improve impact absorption. Selected areas of the padding system contain pads with inner and outer molded thermoplastic urethane parts of different durometer, each including a sheet with plural alternating hollow protrusions. The faceguard has an upper bar with raised ends above a lower edge of the front portion of the shell that form a face opening and on either side of the nose bumper.

The present invention relates to a helmet including mouth vents. The helmet of the present invention includes: a chin guard 100 having a first fastening portion 110 and a second fastening portion 120; a vent body 200 having a first fastening protrusion 210 protruding toward the chin guard 100 so as to be inserted into and fixed to the first fastening portion 110 and a second fastening protrusion 220 protruding toward the chin guard 100 so as to be inserted into and penetrate the second fastening portion 120; and fixing means 300 detachably coupled with the second fastening protrusion 220 penetrating the second fastening portion 120 to fix the second fastening protrusion 220 to the second fastening portion 120.

A helmet includes a helmet body and a clip coupled to the helmet body, for retaining a helmet accessory such as a face cage. The clip comprises a first clip section partly defining an aperture into which a part of the helmet accessory can be received and a second clip section located opposite the first clip section. The second clip section has a first end and a second end, the first end partly defining the aperture into which the part of the helmet accessory can be received, and the second end being coupled to the helmet body. The second clip section further includes a ramped surface that can be depressed to provide access to or from the aperture by the part of the helmet accessory. Also disclosed is a clip for retaining a helmet accessory.

The clip comprises a first clip section partly defining an aperture into which a part of the helmet accessory can be received and a second clip section located opposite the first clip section. A helmet assembly may include a helmet and an integrated chinbar. The chinbar may include an attachment portion and the helmet may include a docking frame. Coupling together of the attachment portion to the docking frame may couple the chinbar to the helmet. The attachment portion may then be secured to docking frame to secure the chinbar to the helmet. In certain embodiments, the attachment portion may be coupled to the docking frame of an interior side of the liner. Thus, the attachment portion may accordingly be disposed on the side of the liner closer to a wearer's face.

A soft armor panel is provided by work softening a panel formed of a ballistic material. The panel also includes slip planes between adjacent ply groups, the adjacent ply groups remaining unconnected or substantially unconnected at the slip plane. The soft, or conformable, body armor, is resistant to various projectile threats, in which the panel is made by work-softening an otherwise rigid panel. The soft armor panel includes a work softened lamination of a plurality of ply groups. Each ply group comprises one or more layers, each layer comprising a composite material of fibers embedded in a matrix material. A slip plane is disposed between at least one set of adjacent ply groups, such that the adjacent ply groups remain unconnected or substantially unconnected at the slip plane. The softened ballistic panel retains significant ballistic properties, is light weight and can be readily conformed to various torso configurations.

HELMET WITH FACEMASK ADJUSTMENT MECHANISM

A protective helmet including a helmet body, a facemask extending from the front portion to cover at least a portion of a face of a wearer, and one or more adjustment mechanisms securing the facemask to the helmet body. The adjustment mechanism(s) is/are connected to the helmet, include(s) an engagement member engaged with the facemask, is/are selectively engageable with the facemask in at least two vertically spaced apart positions of the facemask relative to the helmet body, and allow(s) toolless adjustment between the vertically spaced apart positions. Adjustment mechanisms and methods of positioning a facemask are also discussed.
