Sensor channel isolation systems and methods

Techniques are disclosed for systems and methods to provide accurate and reliable compact sonar systems for mobile structures. A sonar system includes multiple sensor channels, each comprising a sonar transmitter and a sonar receiver, and a logic device configured to provide control signals and receive sensor signals from the sensor channels. The logic device is configured to provide transmission signals to sonar transducer assemblies, where signal patterns of the transmission signals are differentiated based at least in part on frequency content. Acoustic returns are processed using the signal patterns to reduce inter-channel pickup between the sensor channels. Resulting sonar data and/or imagery may be displayed to a user and/or used to adjust a steering actuator, a propulsion system thrust, and/or other operational systems of the mobile structure.

METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR ULTRASOUND TIME-OF-FLIGHT MEASUREMENT

A transducer system with transducer and circuitry for applying a pulse train at a single frequency to excite the transducer. The transducer is operable to receive an echo waveform in response to the pulse train. The system also comprises circuitry for determining a time of flight as between a first reference time associated with the pulse train and a second reference time associated with the echo waveform.

An object sensing apparatus includes an object sensing unit to sense an object using a direct wave, being a reflected wave received by a sensor having transmitted a probing wave among a plurality of ultrasonic sensors, and an indirect wave, being a reflected wave received by a sensor different from the sensor having transmitted the probing wave among the ultrasonic sensors, and a temperature change detection unit to detect a predetermined temperature change state where temperature change of a predetermined value or more has occurred or a possibility of the temperature change occurs in an ambient temperature of the moving object. When the predetermined temperature change state is detected by the temperature change detection unit, the object sensing unit performs sensing suppression control not to sense the object using the indirect wave or to make it difficult to sense the object using the indirect wave.

Object detection may include transmitting, by a first device, a first pulse into an environment using a wide field configuration of an ultrasonic sensor array, detecting a presence of an object in the environment based on a detected echo based on the first pulse. In response to detecting the presence of the object, a targeted configuration of the ultrasonic sensor array is determined, and a second pulse is transmitted into the environment based on the second pulse, wherein a characteristic of the object is determined based on a detected echo from the second pulse.

A moving object detection system comprises: a transmission waveform setting section to set a transmission signal in such a way that a frequency of the transmission signal is linearly changed; a transmitting section to transmit the transmission signal; a receiving section to receive a reception signal resulting from a reflection of the transmission signal at an object; a Doppler coefficient estimating section to estimate a Doppler coefficient associated with a movement of the object by performing arithmetic processing on a waveform of the reception signal at a present time point and waveforms of the reception signal at one or more past time points, the one or more past time points being earlier than the present time point by one or more specified periods of time; and an object detection section to detect the object based on the transmission signal, the Doppler coefficient, and the reception signal.

ULTRASOUND FLOW MEASUREMENT DEVICE WITH SIGNAL QUALITY MONITORING

An ultrasound flow measurement device has a vessel through which a fluid to be measured flows. An ultrasound measurement configuration with an ultrasound transducer is provided for measuring a propagation time of an ultrasound signal containing a plurality of periods along a measurement section that runs partly in a direction of flow. A controller determines a fluid flow on a basis of a propagation time measurement. The controller contains a memory, a first evaluator for determining a period duration of at least one of the periods of an ultrasound signal received after passing through the measurement section, a second evaluator for determining a spread value of a predetermined number of last received ultrasound signals, a comparator for comparing the spread value with a threshold value, and an actioning device for initiating a control action, assigned to the threshold value that has been exceeded, for the ultrasound flow measurement device.
