A modular helmet is described herein. The module helmet includes an inner shell adapted to be positioned onto a user's head and an outer shell coupled to the inner shell. The outer shell is spaced a distance radially outward from the inner shell to define a climatic zone between the inner shell and the outer shell. A cooling assembly is positioned within the climatic zone between the inner shell and the outer shell. The cooling assembly includes a plurality of cooling packets that are coupled to the outer shell.

Mechanically heated/cooled air system for welding helmet
10568766 · 2020-02-25 ·

A mechanical refrigeration and heating unit supplies filtered air that is heated or chilled as needed for one or more welding helmets. A portable or transportable cabinet or housing has an air inlet on which a cartridge air filter is mounted. The air passes through an evaporator coil into an evaporator plenum where an evaporator fan moves the air to an outlet that connects with a heater plenum that contains an electric heater module. An outlet of the heater if fitted with an outlet port to which an air hose may be connected. A compressor, condenser coil, receiver, and condenser fan are located in an equipment compartment in the housing. A control board in the unit allows the user to select heated or chilled air. A clogged-filter alarm provides visual and audio alarm signals when pressure in the evaporator plenum falls below a threshold.

Respirator system with curved vortex tube

A respirator system having a vortex tube with an arcuate hot leg. A respirator helmet has an inlet hose. A vortex tube with an arcuate hot leg and an inlet port is coupled to the respirator helmet. A compressed air source is coupled to the inlet port to supply air to the vortex tube in the range of 110 liter/minute (l/min) to 425 l/min and in the range of 40 pounds per square inch (psi) and 80 psi. This portable arrangement provides effective temperature control within the respirator system.
