Metal detector
A method for improving a performance of a metal detector, including: determining positions of a sensor head of the metal detector with respect to a coordinate system as the sensor head is moved on top of a ground; processing a receive signal received by the sensor head to produce a substantially ground balanced signal that is substantially insensitive to signals due to the ground; and actively controlling the step of processing based on one or more of the determined positions as the metal detector is moved on top of the ground; wherein, during a continuous use of the metal detector, the determined positions are processed to control, without any instruction or indication from an operator of the metal detector to do so, the step of processing the receive signal to produce the substantially ground balanced signal.

Tracking system for visual effect triggering using induced magnetic field and predictive analysis
A system comprises active magnetic emitters positioned within an area, passive magnetic emitters configured to be moved within the area, a magnetic field detector configured to measure a strength and direction of a magnetic field within the area, and a processor in communication with the magnetic field detector. The passive magnetic emitters are configured to be integrated in, coupled to, or secured to at least one tracked object or tracked subject within the area. The processor is configured to evaluate at least one change in the measured strength and direction of the magnetic field end send a signal to a visual effect actuator or visual effects display to initiate a visual effect based on the at least one change. A method and computer program product relating to the system is also provided.
VEHICLE DOOR POSITIONING SYSTEM
A vehicle includes a body and a door coupled to the body. The door is operable between opened and closed positions. A cinch assembly is operably coupled to the door. A door seal is positioned along at least a portion of a door opening, wherein the door seal includes a first conductor and a second conductor positioned therein. The first and second conductors are dielectrically isolated and cooperate to generate a capacitive signal. A controller is configured to monitor the capacitive signal and control the cinch assembly in response to the capacitive signal.
Accurate And Cost-Effective Inversion-Based Auto Calibration Methods For Resistivity Logging Tools
Systems and methods of the present disclosure relate to calibration of resistivity logging tool. A method to calibrate a resistivity logging tool comprises disposing the resistivity logging tool into a formation; acquiring a signal at each logging point with the resistivity logging tool; assuming a formation model for a first set of continuous logging points in the formation; inverting all of the signals for unknown model parameters of the formation model, wherein the formation model is the same for all of the continuous logging points in the first set; assigning at least one calibration coefficient to each type of signal, wherein the calibration coefficients are the same for the first set; and building an unknown vector that includes the unknown model parameters and the calibration coefficients, to calibrate the resistivity logging tool.
NULL POINT DEPTH CALIBRATION
A calibration method for calibrating an underground beacon and tracker system for use with horizontal directional drilling. The beacon emits a magnetic field, which is received at an above-ground receiving antenna. The antenna is used to locate front and rear null points in the emitted field. The vertical and horizontal offset between the null points is determined to locate the beacon. Then, the magnetic field strength is determined at one of the null points. This value may be used to calculate or update a calibration constant. The calibration constant is then used in subsequent locating step while the characteristics of the underground environment surrounding the beacon remain similar.
