An object detection device includes an external sensor, an inertia sensor, and a control device. The external sensor is fixed to a ship. The external sensor detects an object. The inertia sensor detects information related to an inertial force applied to the ship. The control device acquires a state of relative displacement of a detection object on the basis of a signal output from the external sensor. The control device acquires a state of an attitude change of the ship on the basis of a signal output from the inertia sensor. The control device determines whether a detection object is present outside the ship according to a correlation between the state of the attitude change of the ship and the state of the relative displacement of the detection object.

The focus of the teachings is on using Compact ferrite antenna to detect the motion of metal objects using a very low frequency (VLF) square wave, propagated between a pair of compact ferrite-particle dielectric-core RWA antennas in free space. The two salient features in the signal are observed; both of which are characteristic of Brillouin-precursor propagation: (1) a temporal Bessel-like waveform; and (2) an algebraic, rather than exponential, attenuation with distance over three meters. The key element teaching shows pair of source and detector antenna enables the detection of metals (weapon gun, knife) on a person or package between the ferrite- particle dielectric-core antennas- source (S) and detector (D) pairs or arrays of S-D tractor. The detection consisted of a change in the amplitude of the Bessel-like waveform of the received signal for security system to detect weapons.

A method and system for estimating parameters of pipes. The method may comprise disposing an electromagnetic (EM) logging tool into a pipe string, creating a log from a first set of one or more measurements, and creating a synthetic model of one or more nested pipes based at least in part on a well plan. The method may further comprise adding a modeled pipe to the synthetic model, estimating one or more parameters of the modeled pipe through model calibration to form a calibrated model, and performing an inversion with the calibrated model to estimate one or more pipe parameters of the pipe string. The system may comprise an electromagnetic logging tool that may comprise a transmitter, wherein the transmitter is a first coil and is operable to transmit an electromagnetic field, and a receiver, wherein the receiver is a second coil and is operable to measure the electromagnetic field.
