Improved mechanisms for collecting information from a diverse suite of sensors and systems, calculating the current precipitation, atmospheric water vapor, atmospheric liquid water content, or precipitable water and other atmospheric-based phenomena, for example presence and intensity of fog, based upon these sensor readings, predicting future precipitation and atmospheric-based phenomena, and estimating effects of the atmospheric-based phenomena on visibility, for example by calculating runway visible range (RVR) estimates and forecasts based on the atmospheric-based phenomena.
Modular weather sensing system and method
An assembly and method for using weather sensors with enhanced modular capability is disclosed. The weather sensor assembly generally comprises a cap module, middle module, and a base module, where the cap module, middle module(s) and the base module are stacked adjacently to provide environmental sealing, weather sensing, and electrical connectivity to the weather sensor assembly. One or more ring mechanisms may be included that interlock the cap module, middle module(s), base module to form the weather sensor assembly into an integrated unit. Moreover, the ring mechanisms enable further modules to be added to the weather sensor assembly for additional capabilities. By doing so, each of the modules in the weather sensor assembly may be independent units that can be removed, reordered, swapped, and added for desired sensing modalities and environments.
Methods and apparatus for measuring gas flux
Systems and methods for measuring gas flux are provided. The method includes obtaining one or more of wind speed data, gas content data, temperature data and humidity data over a period of time, computing a plurality of different gas flux values for said period of time using a corresponding plurality of different flux calculation algorithms, wherein each of the plurality of different flux calculation algorithms uses one, some or all of the measured data types to calculate gas flux values for one or a plurality of sub-periods of said period of time, and for each of the one or the plurality of sub-periods, determining an optimal flux calculation algorithm of the plurality of different flux calculation algorithms based on one or more quality indicators; and outputting, for each of the plurality of sub-periods, one or more optimal flux calculation values corresponding to the optimal flux calculation algorithm for the sub-period.

This water vapor observation device comprises an antenna, an RF amplifier, and processing circuitry. The antenna receives radio waves radiated from an atmosphere including water vapor. The RF amplifier amplifies the received radio waves and generates an observation signal. The processing circuitry is programmed to at least: use the observation signal to select a plurality of observation frequencies excluding an accuracy degraded frequency; and calculate a water vapor index using the spectral intensities of the plurality of observation frequencies. This configuration makes it possible to accurately observe a water vapor amount.

An aerosol generating device may include a housing forming an exterior of the aerosol generating device; a heater configured to heat an aerosol generating article inserted through a first surface of the housing; a battery electrically connected to the heater; a weather information sensor exposed through a second surface of the housing and configured to measure weather information surrounding the housing; and a controller configured to adjust power supplied from the battery to the heater, wherein the controller is further configured to control an amount of the power supplied from the battery to the heater such that the heater is heated according to at least one from among a target temperature of a pre-heating section and a target temperature of a smoking section that is determined.
Methods, systems, and media for managing wind speed data, seismic data and other parametric data
A system for collecting and managing parametric data via an external communications network comprises one or more parametric stations operatively connected via the external network to a certification server and a payout server. Each parametric station is configured to receive parametric data from a remote source, determine that the parametric data satisfies a predetermined condition, and transmit the parametric data over the external network to the certification server in response to the parametric data satisfying the predetermined condition. The certification server is configured to generate a certification report based on the parametric data and a data model related to the remote source and transmit the generated certification report to the payout server. The payout server is configured to determine that terms of an associated contract are satisfied based on the certification report, and trigger a payout based on the terms that are satisfied based on the certification report.
Methods, systems, and media for managing wind speed data, seismic data and other parametric data
A system for collecting and managing parametric data via an external communications network comprises one or more parametric stations operatively connected via the external network to a certification server and a payout server. Each parametric station is configured to receive parametric data from a remote source, determine that the parametric data satisfies a predetermined condition, and transmit the parametric data over the external network to the certification server in response to the parametric data satisfying the predetermined condition. The certification server is configured to generate a certification report based on the parametric data and a data model related to the remote source and transmit the generated certification report to the payout server. The payout server is configured to determine that terms of an associated contract are satisfied based on the certification report, and trigger a payout based on the terms that are satisfied based on the certification report.
