Attachment producing anamorphic effect

Apparatuses, systems, and methods for producing non-rotationally symmetric optical aberrations. Such aberrations may be created by a removable attachment that may be attached to another lens, such as a spherical lens. Aberrations that appear to reproduce an anamorphic effect may be produced, yet the underlying camera system may remain a spherical camera system, and the capture mode may remain non-anamorphic.

A large aperture anamorphic lens includes a cylindrical lens group arranged in a direction from an object side to an image side. The cylindrical lens group includes a anamorphic group and together form an imaging group. The anamorphic group includes a first lens, a second lens, and a third lens arranged in a direction of an object side to an image side. The first lens and the second lens may be a negative optical power cylindrical lens, and the third lens may be a positive optical power cylindrical lens. Through the optical characteristics of the cylindrical lens in the anamorphic group, the entering horizontal light is compressed while the vertical light path maintains unchanged. The imaging group comprehensively corrects the light so that the horizontal field of view angle is increased by about 33% to achieve a magnification by 1.33 times for an anamorphic shooting.

METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR REMAPPING PIXEL LOCATIONS

An apparatus and method for optically remapping projected pixels to maximize the utilization and to optimize the distribution of remapped projection pixels to achieve optimal visual performance (generally uniform resolution and luminance). A device interposed between a projector and an imaging surface for optically remapping projected pixel locations with minimal aberration. When this device is interposed between a projector and an imaging surface, it changes the terminal location of each focused pixel such that it maximally coincides with the imaging surface, which is often a surface of complex curvature and very different from the native focal surface of the projector. One implementation of the technology includes a device that uses multiple optical surfaces.

Folded Optical Systems

Single fold optical systems that include a power prism and a lens stack including two or more refractive lens elements. The single fold optical system may provide a long mechanical back focus without increasing the Z-height of the optical system. Providing power on the prism may reduce the optical total length and reduce the X-length of the optical system. The single folded optical systems may provide reduced Z-axis height and reduced X-axis length when compared to conventional double folded optical systems with similar optical characteristics. In addition, the optical systems may include an anamorphic lens that is oriented to correct for astigmatism caused by surface errors of the reflective surface of the prism.

A correction lens is used in an optical system in which a light-transmissive cover member having radii of curvature different from each other in a predetermined first direction and a second direction perpendicular to the first direction is disposed on an object side. Radii of curvature of an image-side surface of the correction lens are different in the first direction and the second direction, and satisfy a predetermined condition.

LENS AND OPTICAL IMAGING SYSTEM

A lens, wherein a first profile in a first direction intersecting an optical axis and a second profile in a second direction intersecting the optical axis are different from each other, and a length of the first profile in the first direction is different from a length of the second profile in the second direction.
