Image capture control methods and apparatus
Methods and apparatus for controlling the read out of rows of pixel values from sensors corresponding to different optical chains used to capture portions of the same image area are described. The readout is controlled based on user input and/or determinations with regard to the rate of motion in captured images or portions of captured images. For a low rate of motion i, the readout rate of a sensor corresponding to a small focal length is slowed down while the pixel row readout rate of one or more sensors corresponding to one or more optical chains have larger focal lengths are allowed to proceed at a normal rate. For a high rate of motion, the read out rate of the sensor corresponding to the optical chain having the smaller focal length is allowed to proceed at the normal rate.
Rifle scope targeting display adapter
This disclosure describes a compact and lightweight rifle scope display adapter configured to be affixed in front of the objective lens of a rifle scope. The display adapter includes a receptacle that enables the adapter to be electrically connected to a ballistic computer, rangefinder or other targeting mechanism. The display adapter is configured to receive aimpoint information and project illuminated symbology that is brought into focus by the rifle scope optics in such a way that the symbology appears to overlay an image of a scene on which the rifle scope is focused. The display adapter includes a casing that houses processing circuitry, a light emitting diode, polarizer, polarized beam splitter, liquid crystal on silicon imaging element and reflective element. The display adapter also includes a light bar, spherical mirror, quarter-wave plate and an additional polarized beam splitter contained within the light bar.
PROJECTION TELEVISION DEVICE AND SCREEN
A front projection display device is provided including an image-generating source configured to generate an image, a wide angle lens system adapted to receive the image, and a screen. The wide angle lens system may be configured to increase distortion of the image in a first stage and decrease distortion of the image in a second stage. The screen may be configured to receive the image from the wide angle lens system on a first side and reflect the image back to a viewer on the first side. In another embodiment, a screen is provided for a front projection system, the screen may be configured to receive light from a steep angle and may include any number of surface topographies configured to reflect light back to the viewer along a desired viewing plane.
Waveguide for Multispectral Fusion
A system includes an optical waveguide configured to receive multispectral radiation from a scene, a first optical component and a second optical component. The first optical component is configured to cause a first portion of the multispectral radiation with wavelengths in a first range to exit the optical waveguide at a first position, and a second portion of the multispectral radiation with wavelengths in a second range to travel through the optical waveguide from the first position to a second position via total internal reflection. The second optical component is configured to cause the second portion of the multispectral radiation to exit the optical waveguide at the second position.
Adaptive optics system and optical device
The present invention is intended to provide an adaptive optics system and an optical device that allow correction of wavefront phase aberration with higher accuracy than before and have a wider correction range than the conventional ones, regardless of the distance between the observation target and the fluctuation layer, and the size of the observation target. An adaptive optics system includes: a wavefront phase modulator that makes aberration correction to incident light and emits the corrected light; and an imaging-conjugated position adjustment mechanism that adjusts freely within a specimen the position of a surface imaging-conjugated with a fluctuation correction surface formed by the wavefront phase modulator. The imaging-conjugated position adjustment mechanism adjusts the fluctuation correction surface to be imaging-conjugated with a fluctuation layer existing in the specimen.
Long Focal Length, Five Mirror, Anastigmat Optical System
The technology describes an image or optical system with a five-mirror anastigmat (5MA) with first, second and third mirrors cooperating to form an intermediate image between the third and a fourth mirror to enable longer focal lengths, higher pupil magnifications, the use of smaller mirrors and/or more compact designs that occupy less space.
Methods and apparatus relating to a camera including multiple optical chains
Camera methods and apparatus are described where the camera device includes multiple optical chains. In various embodiments two or more of the optical chains include light redirection devices such as mirrors or prisms. Sensors corresponding to multiple different optical chains, but not necessarily all optical chains, are parallel to each other. In some embodiments sensors corresponding to different optical chains are located in the same plane at the front or rear of the camera. However other sensor mounting positions are also possible.
CLOAKING DEVICES CONSTRUCTED FROM PRISMS AND VEHICLES COMPRISING THE SAME
A cloaking device includes an object-side, an image-side, a cloaked region and eight prisms positioned around the cloaked region. Each of the prisms has a light entrance side, a light exit side, a vertex formed from the intersection of a plane defined by the light entrance side and a plane defined by the light exit side, and a vertex angle between the light entrance side and the light exit side. A pair of first object-side prisms with inward facing vertices and a pair of second object-side prisms with outward facing vertices are positioned on the object-side, and a pair of first image-side prisms with outward facing vertices and a pair of second image-side prisms with inward facing vertices are positioned on the image-side. The light entrance sides of the pair of second object-side prisms are parallel and spaced apart from the light exit sides of the pair of first object-side prisms.
