Acoustic tweezers
Electroacoustic device that includes a body, an electrode to be electrically powered, named hot electrode, and an electrode to be electrically grounded, named ground electrode. The body includes a piezoelectric part or the electroacoustic device further including a piezoelectric part different from the body. The hot electrode includes a hot track spiraling around a spiral axis. The radial step between two consecutive coils of the hot track decreasing radially from the spiral axis. The hot electrode and the ground electrode are arranged on the piezoelectric part such as to define a wave transducer configured to generate a focalised ultrasonic vortex propagating in the body and/or, when a fluid medium is acoustically coupled with the electroacoustic device, in the fluid medium.
Method of concentrating particles in a liquid droplet using an EWOD device with sensing apparatus
A microfluidic system and related methods of operating an electrowetting on dielectric (EWOD) device operate to concentrate particles within a liquid droplet dispensed onto an element array of the EWOD device. The method includes the steps of providing a non-polar liquid onto the element array of the EWOD device; providing a polar liquid droplet onto the element array of the EWOD device within the non-polar liquid, wherein the polar liquid droplet includes particles; and applying an actuation cycle comprising a plurality of actuation patterns, wherein at least one of the actuation patterns includes actuating one or more array element electrodes within a perimeter of the polar liquid droplet, and the particles migrate within the polar liquid droplet to become concentrated within a portion of the liquid droplet at one or more array element electrodes corresponding to one of the plurality of actuation patterns.

Probe-based bidirectional electrophoretic force optical trap loading method, device and application
A probe-based bidirectional electrophoretic force optical trap loading method includes steps of (1) detaching target particles from an upper electrode plate and capturing the target particles by a micro-scale probe based on a bidirectional electrophoretic force; (2) moving the probe with the target particles over an optical trap, applying a reverse electric field between the probe and the upper substrate electrode plate which is applied during a polar relaxation time of the target particles, and desorbing the target particles from the probe; and (3) turning on the optical trap, applying an electric field between the lower electrode plate and the upper electrode plate, adjusting the speed of the desorbed target particles through the electric field at which the optical trap is able to capture the desorbed target particles and the desorbed target particles moving to the effective capture range of the optical trap.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR OPTOGENETIC IMAGING USING SEMI-KINEMATIC COUPLING
Provided herein are systems and methods for imaging using a microscope system comprising removeable or replaceable component parts. Such systems and methods employ semi-kinetic coupling for easy, tool-free attachment of the microscope system to a baseplate. Systems and methods provided herein may comprise simultaneous imaging and stimulation using a microscope system. The microscope system can have a relatively small size compared to an average microscope system.
