An enhanced vision system includes a first optic subsystem and a transparent photodetector subsystem disposed within a common housing. The first optic subsystem may include passive devices such as simple or compound lenses, active devices such as low-light enhancing image intensifiers, or a combination of passive and active devices. The transparent photodetector subsystem receives the visible image exiting the first optic subsystem and converts a portion of the electromagnetic energy in the visible image to a signal communicated to image analysis circuitry. On a real-time or near real-time basis, the image analysis circuitry detects and identifies structures, objects, and/or individuals in the visible image. The image analysis circuitry provides an output that includes information regarding the structure, objects, and individuals to the system user contemporaneous with the system user viewing the visible image.

A system for producing a depiction of an image is provided. The present invention includes camera operable to capture an image and a laser projector operable to project a laser beam in an x and y direction. The present invention further includes a computer having a microprocessor and a memory. A software may be saved on the memory and may operate the computer to scan the image to locate edges of objects depicted in the image and direct the laser projector to project the laser beam along x and y coordinates of a plane. The x and y coordinates outlines the edges of the objects and thereby forms the depiction of the image.

A light guide plate (30) is configured to allow light output from a display element (10) to be propagated therein and to allow at least a part of the light propagated therein to be reflected by a plurality of reflective structures (34). The plurality of reflective structures each include a reflective surface (36) inclining with respect to a light output surface (S30). The guide plate includes a first transparent member (30A); a second transparent member (30B); and a third transparent member (38) provided between the first transparent member and the second transparent member. The plurality of reflective structures are provided at positions in contact with the third transparent member.

STEREOSCOPIC DISPLAY WITH REDUCED ACCOMMODATION FATIQUE

A stereoscopic display device is provided for displaying a three-dimensional (3D) image as viewed by eyes consisting of a left eye and a right eye. In the display device, a single display screen, or separate left and right display screens, present a left image to the left eye but not the right eye, and present a right image to the right eye but not the left eye. A gaze distance tracker is configured to track gaze distance of the eyes. Variable-power lenses include a left variable-power lens arranged to provide eye accommodation for the left eye, and a right variable-power lens arranged to provide eye accommodation for the right eye. An electronic eye accommodation controller is configured to control the power of the variable power lenses to allow the image from the display to be focused on the retina, while the biological eye lens is accommodated to the gaze distance.
