A polymerizable composition for an optical material according to the present invention includes a photochromic composition (A), and a polymerizable composition (B) including a bi- or higher functional iso(thio)cyanate compound and a bi- or higher functional active hydrogen compound, in which the photochromic composition (A) is a composition including at least three types of photochromic compounds (i) to (iii), the photochromic compound (i) has a structure including a chromophore a and a monovalent or a divalent organic group including one or more types of a polysiloxane chain or a polyoxyalkylene chain, the photochromic compound (ii) has the chromophore a (which is not the photochromic compound (i)), and the photochromic compound (iii) has a chromophore b different from the chromophore a.

Polarized eyewear with selective blocking

Provided herein is an improved polarized eyewear with selective light wavelength blocking and a method of making such polarized eyewear.

Ophthalmic tinted glass

An ophthalmic tinted glass (10) comprises a substrate-forming base eyeglass (1), a first layered structure (2) which covers a convex face (Cx) of the base eyeglass, and optionally a second layered structure (3) which covers a concave face (Cc) of the base eyeglass. The first layered structure has a function of selective reflection increase, and the second layered structure is antireflective. Such ophthalmic tinted glass produces solar protection while having a mean transmittance value in a wavelength range from 460 nm to 10 nm, or 465 nm to 495 nm, which is high enough for avoiding biological, hormonal and behavioural disorders for a wearer of the tinted glass.

SUNGLASSES FOR SPOTTING SHARK TEETH

The present invention consists of a set of sunglasses used for locating shark teeth on a beach. The invention takes advantage of the way the human brain generates images in order to make shark teeth stand out on the sand. It does so by blocking out specific wavelengths of light that help to accentuate color differences between the teeth and the underlying beach surface. Shark teeth undergo a change of color after falling out that causes them to be differentiable in shade from sand or sediment. By selectively filtering corresponding shades of light, the present invention causes the teeth to stand out as spots on the sand, significantly increasing the ease of spotting and collecting them. When the wavelengths of light reaching the eye are filtered, the shark teeth ultimately stand out as stark dark areas on the beach.

A PHASE-CHANGING POLYMER FILM FOR BROADBAND SMART WINDOWS APPLICATIONS

A smart window including a solid polymer film which is opaque at an ambient temperature and transparent at an elevated temperature; a transparent heater to supply uniform heating to at least a part of the solid polymer film; and a power supply connected to the transparent heater.

Viewing protection system for laser threats against aircraft
11556019 · 2023-01-17 ·

Provided is a selectively filtered vision protection system for defense against aircraft laser threats. The system comprises a viewing device having a frame supporting a transparent viewing surface. The frame is configured to be positioned on the face of a user such that the user may see through the viewing surface. A selective filter is positioned adjacent to the viewing surface such that the angle of the field of view of the user is regulated in at least one orthogonal plane. The viewing angle is selected to prevent light transmitted from a light source, located outside of the viewing angle, from being viewed by the user. The selective filter is configured to operate in a first mode for transmitting light unrestricted through the viewing surface, and a second mode to regulate the angle of the field of view of the user in at least one orthogonal plane.
