The second electrode is electrically connected [to the first electrode] via a first contact hole that penetrates the first insulating film. The second electrode and the second insulating film configure a continuous flat surface, which is the surface on the opposite side to the first substrate, and the pixel electrode is electrically connected to the second electrode. Of the second insulating film, since an inside section positioned inside a concave portion caused by the first contact hole is connected to an outside section provided on the outside of the concave portion, peeling of the inside section is unlikely to occur.

The color filter is disposed corresponding to the display region and includes a plurality of first pixel regions and second pixel regions arranged staggeredly. The first alignment layer corresponding to a first one of the first pixel regions counting from the interface towards the display region has a first thickness T1, the first alignment layer corresponding to a fourth one of the first pixel regions counting from the interface towards the display region has a second thickness T2, and the first thickness T1 and the second thickness T2 in units of micrometers (m) are conformed to the following condition: 0.8T1/T21.2.

According to an aspect, a display device includes: a first substrate; a second substrate facing the first substrate; a display region in which a plurality of pixels are provided; a peripheral region positioned between an edge of the first substrate and the display region; a plurality of scanning lines extending in a first direction; a plurality of signal lines extending in a second direction; a plurality of terminals arranged in the first direction in the peripheral region of the first substrate; a plurality of connection lines that connect the terminals and the signal lines; a plurality of spacers provided between the first substrate and the second substrate in a direction perpendicular to the first substrate; and a plurality of dummy electrodes separated from the connection lines in planar view and provided between the first substrate and the spacers in the direction perpendicular to the first substrate.

A display panel includes a first substrate which includes a display device and a second substrate which is disposed on the first substrate. The second substrate covers a base layer, a color filter layer, a first sealing layer, a color control layer, a step compensating layer, and a second sealing layer. The base layer includes a display area and a non-display area adjacent to the display area. The color filter layer overlaps the display area in a plan view, and is disposed under the base layer. The first sealing layer covers the color filter layer. The color control layer overlaps the display area in the plan view, and is disposed under the first sealing layer. The step compensating layer overlaps the non-display area in the plan view, and is disposed under the base layer. The second sealing layer covers the color control layer and the step compensating layer.
