A cholesteric liquid crystal (LC) composite display device includes a light absorbing substrate, a first and second transparent substrates, a light supplement module arranged between the light absorbing substrate and the first transparent substrate, a control module, a first and second electrode layers respectively formed on the first and second transparent substrates, a first cholesteric LC layer sandwiched between the first and second electrode layers, and a first light absorbing layer disposed on the second transparent substrate. The projection of the first light absorbing layer on the horizontal plane and the projection of the light supplement module on the horizontal plane are arranged in a misaligned manner. The control module is provided for controlling the light supplement module according to the brightness signal. Thereby, when the external brightness is low, the light supplement module enhances the displaying brightness of the cholesteric LC composite display device to meet the usage requirements.

The signal supply wires are each provided overlapping at least one of the first signal line and the second signal line and not overlapping the third signal line.

Display device with novel sub-pixel configuration

A display device including a plurality of sub-pixel arrays is provided. Each of sub-pixel arrays includes a plurality of first sub-pixels, at least one second sub-pixel and at least one third sub-pixel. The first sub-pixels have a first color and form a plurality of vertexes of a virtual quadrilateral. There is not any other first sub-pixels having the first color located in the virtual quadrilateral. The second sub-pixel has a second color different from the first color and is located in the virtual quadrilateral. The third sub-pixel has a third color different from the first color and the second color and is located in the virtual quadrilateral.

Light from a display side of the display panel is allowed to pass through the display panel through the second display region. A first light-emitting ratio of the first display region is equal to a second light-emitting ratio of the second display region. For a first pixel unit and a second pixel unit a same color, the second pixel unit has the area smaller than or equal to the first pixel unit.

According to one embodiment, a display device comprises a collimating layer including first to third openings, first to third color filters overlaid on the first to third openings, respectively, a first sensor outputting a first detection signal corresponding to light made incident through the first opening and the first color filter, a second sensor outputting a second detection signal corresponding to light made incident through the second opening and the second color filter, and a third sensor outputting a third detection signal corresponding to light made incident through the third opening and the third color filter.

A display device includes a substrate including a first display area and a second display area. The first display area includes first pixel areas, each including one or more first pixels. The second display area includes second pixel areas including one or more second pixels and a light transmittance area having a higher light transmittance than the second pixel area. The first and second display areas include a common electrode that transmits a constant common voltage. The common electrode in the second display area includes patterned regions that correspond to a first light transmittance area included in the light transmittance area. A thickness of the common electrode in the patterned regions is smaller than a thickness of the common electrode in a region other than the patterned regions or equals zero. The patterned regions and the second pixel areas extend alternately along a first direction in the second display area.

A display panel and a display device are provided. The display panel includes a first display area and a second display area corresponding to a position of an electronic component, wherein a light transmittance of the second display area is greater than a light transmittance of the first display area. A plurality of pixel units are disposed in the second display area, a ratio of a number of the first sub-pixels to the second sub-pixels and the third sub-pixels is 1:1:2 in each of the pixel units of the second display area, and by providing pixels with larger intervals in the second display area, a light transmittance above the electronic component is increased.
