ELECTRICALLY CONTROLLED OPTICAL SCREEN

An electrically controlled optical screen including a switchable scattering element and an electrically controlled decorating module is provided. The switchable scattering element is disposed on a side of the electrically controlled decorating module and is configured to switch between a scattering state and a transparent state. The electrically controlled decorating module includes a first polarizer, a first quarter-wave plate, a cholesteric liquid crystal layer, an electrically controlled wave plate, a second quarter-wave plate and a second polarizer, which are sequentially stacked. The electrically controlled wave plate has a liquid crystal layer. The second polarizer is disposed between the switchable scattering element and the second quarter-wave plate.

Provided is a liquid crystal display device in which the contrast is improved. The liquid crystal display device includes a first polarizing film, a second polarizing film, a twisted alignment mode liquid crystal and a backlight unit with a light-collecting prism sheet which is disposed on the back side of the liquid crystal cell, the first retardation film and the second retardation film each satisfy Formulae (I) and (II):
1 nmRe(550)50 nm(I)
120 nmRth(550)220 nm(II);
the liquid crystal cell has a depolarizing index (DI value) of 0.000800 or less.

COMPOSITION, OPTICALLY ANISOTROPIC FILM, AND COMPOUND

A composition is provided for forming an optically anisotropic film in which visible unevenness and alignment defects are suppressed. The composition includes a silicon-containing compound and a liquid crystal compound. The silicon-containing compound is selected from a first type having a specified ratio of methyl groups to molecular weight, a defined structural framework, and a molecular weight within a prescribed range, or a second type having a similar methyl-group ratio, multiple functional groups, a defined partial structure, and a molecular weight within a prescribed range. By selecting silicon-containing compounds that satisfy these molecular and structural characteristics, the composition promotes stable film formation with reduced optical and alignment irregularities, making it suitable for use in display devices and other applications requiring reliable optical anisotropy.
