ORTHOPEDIC INSOLES
20190133250 · 2019-05-09 ·

The present invention generally relates to orthopedic insoles, either aftermarket insoles that can be added onto or exchanged for the insoles an existing shoe was manufactured with, or insoles that a shoe is built around on during manufacture. Specifically, embodiments of the present invention relate to orthopedic insoles that comprise an angled forefoot area for varus correction. In particular, in embodiments of the present invention, the inside area of the inner right forefoot is raised to create an angle to accommodate forefoot varus. Also, in embodiments of the invention, the insoles may comprise a plantar fascial groove configured longitudinally on the arch of the innersole, for accommodation of tight fascia. Further, the heel area of the innersole may be elevated to accommodate for equinus foot. Insoles of the present invention provide both static and dynamic support.

MEDICAL SHOE HAVING MULTI-DENSITY OVERMOLDING

A medical shoe having an overmolding layer with a non-uniform density is provided. The medical shoe may include a midsole configured to support a foot, and a frame surrounding the midsole. The midsole may include a foot receiving portion forming a substantially planar surface for supporting the foot and a frame receiving portion opposite the foot receiving portion. The frame may include an overmolding layer extending from a side of the frame opposite the midsole so as to form a ground contacting surface. The overmolding layer may have a non-uniform density. The sole assembly may be secured to the frame by a self-locking fit between the sole assembly and the frame.

MEDICAL SHOE HAVING A PLURALITY OF OUTSOLE PROJECTIONS

A medical shoe having a plurality of outsole projections is provided. The medical shoe may include a sole assembly configured to support a foot, and a frame surrounding the sole assembly. The sole assembly may include a midsole portion forming a substantially planar surface for supporting the foot and an outsole portion including the plurality of outsole projections extending from the midsole portion. The frame may include a plurality of through holes corresponding to the plurality of outsole projections. The plurality of outsole projections may extend through the plurality of through holes so as to form a ground contacting surface. The plurality of outsole projections may also be provided in a symmetrical pattern. The sole assembly may be secured to the frame by a self-locking fit between the sole assembly and the frame.

Method of producing a foot orthotic through 3D printing using foot pressure measurements and material hardness and/or structure to unload foot pressure

A method and apparatus for generating a custom made orthotic or insole for footwear. Information relating to the pressure applied by the sole of a person's foot is used to custom produce an orthotic or insole for the person by using softer material or different structural components, selectively located at pressure points of a particular individual, to unload pressure on the foot at those points. Pressure readings taken for the foot of an individual identify pressure points for that foot. The pressure points are quantified and the foot is mapped in a grid format on a pressure map. Once mapped, structural components corresponding to a particular pressure value are positioned in the orthotic based on the mapping. The compression cells are created via 3D printing methods based on an individual's pressure readings and results from an electronic pressure plate utilizing pressure response sensors.

ORTHOTIC DEVICE FOR SHOES

An orthotic device (10) for use with heeled, dress, flat or sport shoes, the device (10) comprising a body (25), a medial arch support (40) defined by a projection extending upwardly away from the body (25); and a valgus wedge (20) defined by a projection located at a lateral rear foot portion and/or a lateral forefoot portion of the body (25), the valgus wedge (20) being adapted to evert the foot and concentrate the support of the device (10) laterally.

Customized insoles for diabetic and pressure ulcers

Disclosed herein are insoles useful for treating skin injuries on a foot, for instance ulcers. The insoles are customizable for each patient's foot and can include various portions of differing softness, depending on the needs of the patient. For instance, it can be beneficial for certain sections of the foot to contact a firmer material, whereas other sections contact a softer material. Some, or all, of the materials can include one or more biofidelic skin simulant materials. Thus, various implementations include one or more regions that can include the same or different materials. For example, a custom insole can include a heel support region, a midfoot support region, and a forefoot support region, and the support regions can be subdivided into medial and lateral support regions or toe regions. One or more regions may have a custom isolation segment to prevent the progression of ulcers and/or expedite wound healing.

Sole Structure with Electrically Controllable Damping Element
20190000182 · 2019-01-03 ·

A sole structure may include a damping pad. The damping pad may include a chamber, a foam element located within the chamber, an electrorheological fluid located within the chamber and at least partially permeating the foam element, and a set of electrodes positioned to create, in response to a voltage across the electrodes, an electrical field in at least a portion of the electrorheological fluid.

Provided is an insole to suppress, in a foot sole, an excessive outward displacement of the center of body gravity. An insole to be used as a shoe insole includes three areas divided from a top surface of the insole. The three areas include a forefoot area, a midfoot area, and a hindfoot area. In an outer section, all three areas are provided with an outer forefoot protrusion, an outer midfoot protrusion, and an outer hindfoot protrusion that protrude upwards from the top surface of the insole or downwards from a bottom surface of the insole. The protrusions are formed to have respective heights of protrusion distinctive from one another within a range of 0.2 mm or higher and 15 mm or lower.
