Methods and devices are disclosed for the tomographic imaging of a biological sample from almost all rotational perspectives in three-dimensional space and with multiple imaging modalities. A biological sample is positioned on an imaging stage that is capable of nearly full 360-degree rotation in at least one of two substantially orthogonal axes. Positioned about the stage is an X-ray imaging module enabling the recording of a series of images. A reflected light imaging module can also be positioned about the stage to enable recording of black and white or color white light images. A computer can use the images to construct three-dimensional models of the sample and to render images of the sample conveying information from one or more imaging channels.

Radiation image detection device

A radiation image detecting device includes a photodetecting element that detects fluorescence light, and a prism that is disposed on an optical path of excitation light traveling toward an imaging plate and between the photodetecting element and the imaging plate. The prism includes, as surface thereof, a side face that is opposed to the imaging plate, and a side face and a side face that are inclined relative to the side face. The prism is disposed so that the excitation light incident through the side face propagates inside and is output from the side face and so that reflection from the imaging plate incident through the side face propagates inside and is output from the side face. The photodetecting element is disposed so as to be opposed to a region different from a region where the reflection from the imaging plate is output, in the surface of the prism.

Radiographic imaging apparatus and electronic cassette

In a radiographic imaging apparatus, a radiation image of an object is detected by use of one of first and second electronic cassettes, to input the radiation image to the console device. The first electronic cassette is changed over between a normal transmission mode and a relay transmission mode. In the normal transmission mode, the radiation image is transmitted through a path from the first electronic cassette to the console device, and in the relay transmission mode, the radiation image is transmitted from the first electronic cassette to the second electronic cassette wirelessly and then from the second electronic cassette to the console device. Transmission of a radiation image can be performed reliably without unwanted interruption, because an indirect path of the relay transmission mode can be used even upon occurrence of a technical problem of inefficiency in the normal transmission mode.
