Sole Structures Having Multiple Hardnesses and/or Flex Promoting Structures

Footwear and sole structures include structures and properties, e.g., to support urban dance and urban dance moves. Such dance styles include various dance moves and movements that require contact between side edges of the wearer’s shoes and the dance floor surface (e.g., made from concrete, asphalt, wood, etc.). Such dance styles also require transition of the body’s center of mass along the edge(s) of the foot. Footwear and sole structures in accordance with this technology provide structures and properties to support to support such dance styles and moves, including one or more of: selected materials and/or selected material properties in various areas to promote sliding or gliding along various surfaces and/or other desired interactions with various surfaces; selected sizing and/or dimensional features of components in various areas; various flexion promoting structures and/or characteristics; etc.

An article of footwear includes a sole structure coupled with an upper that defines a forefoot region, a midfoot region, and a heel region. The sole structure includes a plurality of pods that each have a pod body formed from a foam material that optionally has a coating disposed on an outer surface of the pod body. The sole structure includes a chassis attached to a bottom surface of each of the plurality of pods. The chassis includes a plurality of ground contacting regions and an elongated fork structure. The elongated fork structure includes a chassis stem, a first chassis leg, and a second chassis leg that each extend from the chassis stem through the heel region, the midfoot region, and the forefoot region of the sole structure. A continuous elongated groove is positioned between and extends along substantially the entire length of the first and second chassis leg.

Positional detection system

A sports and performance media positional detection system, comprising: at least two elements, with at least one element involved in the sporting activity; a power source; and machine-to-machine communication, which are collectively arranged such that if any two or more elements interact, their electromagnetic properties can be detected thus allowing the position of the interacting elements to be communicated to a decision maker. The system can be applied to at least one stationary element, which can be the playing surface, lines defining the boundaries, or a set of goalposts; and at least one moving element, which could be a ball, footwear, or the participants themselves. The system can also be applied to performance media capture.

A sole structure and shoes having the sole structure are provided which enable smooth cutting maneuvers or the like and stabilize a stacking state in the sole structure. An outsole has an elastic structure arranged between a base plate and a lower midsole portion in a thickness direction of a sole structure. The elastic structure includes a plurality of elastically deformable first columnar portions and at least one coupling portion for coupling the first columnar portions adjacent to each other. The elastic structure is configured such that the coupling portion couples second end portions of the first columnar portions adjacent to each other, and that the second end portions are connected, together with the coupling portion, to the lower midsole portion.

FLOOR REACTION FORCE INDEX ESTIMATION SYSTEM, FLOOR REACTION FORCE INDEX ESTIMATION METHOD, AND FLOOR REACTION FORCE INDEX ESTIMATION PROGRAM

Disclosed are a ground reaction force index estimation system, a ground reaction force index estimation method, and a ground reaction force index estimation program that can compute ground reaction force indices at low computation costs. The ground reaction force index estimation system comprises footwear and an external device connected to the footwear. The footwear comprises a wearable sensor that measures triaxial acceleration and/or triaxial angular velocity and a computation unit that computes ground reaction force indices by multiple regression analysis from values computed from the measurement results to be used as explanatory variables. The external device comprises a controller that evaluates walking and running motions for the user on the basis of the measurement results by the wearable sensor received from the footwear, the computed ground reaction force indices, and the determination reference information and a presentation unit that presents the results of the evaluation of the running motion.
