A sole structure for an article of footwear is provided. The sole structure includes an outsole having a ground-engaging surface and an upper surface formed on an opposite side of the outsole than the ground-engaging surface. A first cushion is disposed proximate to a medial side of the sole structure and includes a first fluid-filled chamber attached to the upper surface of the outsole and a second fluid-filled chamber attached to the first fluid-filled chamber and disposed between the first fluid-filled chamber and the upper. A second cushion is disposed proximate to a lateral side of the sole structure and includes a third fluid-filled chamber attached to the upper surface of the outsole and a fourth fluid-filled chamber attached to the third fluid-filled chamber and disposed between the third fluid-filled chamber and the upper. The second cushion is fluidly isolated from the first cushion.

A sole structure for an article of footwear is provided. A second cushion is disposed proximate to a lateral side of the sole structure and includes a third fluid-filled chamber attached to the upper surface of the outsole and a fourth fluid-filled chamber attached to the third fluid-filled chamber and disposed between the third fluid-filled chamber and the upper. The second cushion is fluidly isolated from the first cushion.

A sole structure including a midsole, an outsole, and a plate disposed between the plate and the outsole. The plate includes a first portion having an arcuate shape extending through a forefoot region and a mid-foot region, and a planar second portion connected to the first portion along a joint and extending in a first plane at an oblique angle from the joint. The plate includes a first channel extending from a first end of the plate along the first portion and in a direction toward the second portion. A second channel extends from a second end of the plate along the second portion and in a direction toward the first portion. The first channel separates the plate into a first pair of tabs formed at the first end and the second channel separates the plate into a second pair of channels formed at the second end.

An apparatus includes a heel section, a mid-foot section, and a toe section. The heel section, the mid-foot section, and the toe section collectively have a geometric shape having a first slope of a polarity along an inner edge of the apparatus from the toe section to the heel section and a second slope of the polarity along the inner edge of the apparatus to an outer edge of the apparatus at the toe section.

An athletic shoe is selectively configurable between a weight-training configuration and a cross-training configuration. The athletic shoe includes an upper portion configured to receive a foot and a first sole portion connected to the upper portion. The first sole portion has an inner surface and an outer surface opposite the inner surface. The outer surface is configured to contact a training surface when the athletic shoe is in the cross-training configuration. The athletic shoe also includes a second sole portion removably connected to the first sole portion when the athletic shoe is in the weight-training configuration. The second sole portion includes a first surface and a second surface. The first surface is configured to contact the training surface and the second surface is configured to contact the outer surface when the athletic shoe is in the weight-training configuration.

A method and apparatus for dynamically altering a height of a sole assembly of an article of footwear uses an actuator having a retraction assembly and a traction assembly. A wedge is moved to different positions within a groove formed in the sole assembly. A user evaluates the performance of the footwear with the wedge at different positions while performing an activity. The user evaluations help determine an optimal height of the sole assembly.

A method for coupling a non-trimmed sole and an upper for making a shoe, which includes the steps of providing a non-trimmed sole having a flat and/or sheet-like shape and provided with a first surface, adapted during use to face towards the upper, wherein the non-trimmed sole includes a central part or impression and an edge portion which is extended outward starting from a peripheral portion of the impression, positioning the sole in a position below the upper, moving the non-trimmed sole so to enclose at least part of the upper, constraining the non-trimmed sole and at least part of the upper so as to obtain the shoe; shoe obtainable by means of such method.

An orthotic support assembly is disclosed herein that is configured to be attached to a patient's foot. The support assembly defines a first, internal device and a second, external device. The internal device defines at least a portion that extends to a top of a user's foot when positioned within the external device.

An article of footwear includes a sole structure that has a heel portion with a rear, a lateral side, and a medial side. The article of footwear includes a heel extender that has a rear segment disposed at the rear of the heel portion, a lateral arm disposed at the lateral side of the heel portion, and a medial arm disposed at the medial side of the heel portion. The heel extender has a protuberance that establishes a rearmost extent of the article of footwear. The sole structure has a first hardness and the protuberance has a second hardness greater than the first hardness.
