Method and device for opening cigarettes constituting cigarette waste
A method for opening cigarettes constituting cigarette waste in a device comprising a rotational drum (1) the inner wall of which is provided with at least one scraping away element (2, 2, 2) extending generally along the drum, and at least one rotational beater (4, 4, 4) located inside the drum (1) striking against the cigarettes, wherein the cigarettes fed into the rotating drum (1) and being lifted by means of at the least one scraping away element (2, 2, 2) and falling by gravity, are struck against by means of the at least one rotational beater (4, 4, 4) in a direction substantially perpendicular to the axes of the cigarettes with a force enabling their opening. A device for realization of the method of the invention.
A SUBSTANCE RECOVERY APPARATUS
An apparatus an related methods for recovering a substance from rejected delivery systems includes a transport system, a retainer, and a fluid conduit. The transport system is configured to receive a rejected delivery system and convey it along a conveyance path in a direction perpendicular to a longitudinal axis of a rejected delivery system. The transport system includes at least one transport member. The retainer includes an endless flexible belt configured to engage a rejected delivery system received on the transport system over a portion of the conveyance path as a rejected delivery system travels along the conveyance path and to retain a rejected delivery system on the transport system. The fluid conduit is configured to direct a jet of gas into a first end of a rejected delivery system from an opposite end of a rejected delivery system, whilst a rejected delivery system is transported along said portion of the conveyance path and retained on the transport system by the retainer.

TOBACCO SLITTING MACHINE
Provided herein is a tobacco recovery machine that automatically removes and separates a tobacco rod from formed cigarettes and slits the tipping paper surrounding the tobacco rod. The tobacco recovery machine includes a hopper that receives cigarettes. A feed mechanism individually feeds the cigarettes from the hopper and through a chopping mechanism that removes the filter rod from each cigarette leaving the cylindrical tobacco rod wrapped in the tipping paper. The tobacco recovery machine next feeds the tobacco rod of the cigarette through a slitting mechanism that slits the tipping paper wrapping surrounding the tobacco. The slitting mechanism axially slits the tipping paper along the tobacco rod such that the tobacco product can separate from the tipping paper.

Apparatus for recovering tobacco material and related method
An apparatus and method for recovering tobacco material from tobacco rod sections is provided, each tobacco rod section including a wrapping paper wrapped about the tobacco material. The apparatus includes a centrifugal object-orienting device including a disc disposed at an incline within a cylindrical container, the cylindrical container and the disc being rotatable about a rotation axis such that the rotating cylindrical container and disc impart centrifugal force to the tobacco rod sections, the tobacco rod sections being responsive to the centrifugal force to orient lengthwise. A first conveyor device is configured to receive and convey in a conveyor direction the tobacco rod sections, with the tobacco rod sections being oriented lengthwise relative to the conveyor direction. A slitting device is operably engaged with the first conveyor device and configured to lengthwise slit the wrapping paper wrapped about the tobacco material of each of the tobacco rod sections.
