CLEANING A PRINT APPARATUS

In one example a method comprises moving, by a processor, a photoreceptor of a print apparatus. The photoreceptor is movable between a fully engaged position in which the photoreceptor is to engage a transfer member of the print apparatus to transfer an image from the photoreceptor to the transfer member and a fully disengaged position in which the photoreceptor is remote from the transfer member. The method comprises moving, by a processor, the photoreceptor to an intermediate position between the fully engaged and fully disengaged positions. The method comprises engaging, by a processor, a cleaning system of the print apparatus with the photoreceptor when the photoreceptor is in the intermediate position.

PROCESS CARTRIDGE AND DEVELOPING CARTRIDGE

A cartridge detachably mountable to a main assembly of an image forming apparatus includes a photosensitive member unit including a photosensitive drum; a sheet configured to remove a deposited matter from a surface of the drum, the sheet being in contact with the surface of the drum at an end portion of the drum with respect to a rotational axis direction of the member; and a developing unit detachably mounted to the member unit, the developing unit including a developing roller configured to supply toner to the drum, and a storage portion configured to store the deposited matter removed from the surface of the drum by the sheet.

Image forming apparatus and image forming unit

An image forming unit to be attached to an apparatus body of an image forming apparatus includes a first cartridge including a driven portion configured to rotate on a first rotational axis; and a second cartridge configured separable from the first cartridge. The second cartridge includes an input portion configured to receive driving force from the apparatus body; and a drive transmission portion configured to rotate on a second rotational axis and to transmit the driving force to the driven portion.

Cleaning unit including handle having lock mechanism for locking cleaning unit to main body of image forming apparatus

A cleaning unit is attachable to and detachable from a main body of an image forming apparatus including a photosensitive drum and a belt configured to contact the photosensitive drum. The cleaning unit includes: a frame; and a handle. The frame is configured to accommodate therein developing agent collected from the image forming apparatus. The handle includes: a pair of first parts; and a second part. Each of the pair of first parts extends from the frame in an extending direction perpendicular to an axial direction of the photosensitive drum in a state where the cleaning unit is attached to the main body. The pair of first parts includes a lock mechanism for locking the cleaning unit to the main body. The second part extends in the axial direction and connects the pair of first parts to each other.

An image forming apparatus includes an image carrier, a cleaning blade, a motor, and a controller. The image carrier carries a toner image. The cleaning blade is located in contact with the image carrier. The motor drives the image carrier so as to perform reverse rotation and forward rotation. The controller measures a first torque of the image carrier during the reverse rotation, and a second torque of the image carrier during the forward rotation, on a basis of a current value of the motor. The controller calculates an amount of a substance stuck to a surface of the image carrier, on a basis of a measurement result of the first torque and the second torque.

An image forming apparatus includes a photosensitive drum, a developing device, a toner container, a cleaner, a waste toner container, and a waste toner conveying pipe. The cleaner is configured to clean a peripheral surface of the photosensitive drum after a toner image has been transferred to the printing medium. The waste toner container is configured to accommodate therein waste toner removed from the peripheral surface of the photosensitive drum by the cleaner. The waste toner conveying pipe is configured to convey the waste toner from the cleaner to the waste toner container. The cleaner is located between the photosensitive drum and the fixing device in a vertical direction. The developing device is located below the photosensitive drum. The waste toner container is located below the cleaner. The toner container covers at least a part of an upper surface of the waste toner container.

Physical unclonable function (PUF) alters disk structure to encode region

A physical unclonable function (“PUF”) object can be used to encode the geography or region in which device to which the PUF is attached may operate. Disclosed are two potential ways to regionalize a device using a PUF disk: placing the magnetic sensor at a different radius depending on the region or geography intended for sale; and altering the magnetic structure of the disk to magnetically encode the region into the sensor data.

CLEANING ROD FOR OPTICAL PRINT HEAD INCLUDED IN IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS

A cleaning rod includes a rod-like member, a slidable portion which is provided on a free end side of the rod-like member with respect to a direction in which the cleaning rod is inserted and which is slidable on a light emergent surface of a lens of an image forming apparatus, and a restricting portion configured to restrict movement of the slidable portion in a direction away from the light emergent surface with respect to an optical axis direction by contacting the holder at each of free ends of opposing wall portions of a holder of the image forming apparatus from a side opposite from a side where a photosensitive member of the image forming apparatus is provided with respect to the optical axis direction in a state in which the slidable portion contacts the light emergent surface.
