An MFP that includes a monochrome counter for monochrome printing and a color counter for color printing sets the monochrome counter as a target counter for reflecting the number of prints in a printing process when only monochrome toner of monochrome toner and color toner is consumed in the printing process. Moreover, the MFP sets the color counter as a target counter when color toner is consumed in a printing process. Then, the MFP reflects the number of prints in a printing process on the set target counter.

According to an embodiment, an image processing system includes an image forming unit, a decoloring unit, a storage device, an operation panel and a processor. The storage device stores image data of a plurality of printed materials. The processor forms on a sheet an image based on image data in a page range of the printed material received by the operation panel. The processor determines whether or not images of all pages in the page range have been decolored in a predetermined range after the image formation is executed when the formed image is decolored by the decoloring unit.

An image forming apparatus to perform an image forming operation for forming an image on a transfer material includes a photosensitive drum, a moving member, a detection unit, and a control unit. The detection unit detect information about a first movement in which the moving member moves from an open position to a shielding position or a second movement in which the moving member moves from the shielding position to the open position. During execution of a non-image forming operation, the control unit executes a multiple switching operation for performing a switching operation a plurality of times. The switching operation is an operation in which the control unit stops the photosensitive drum from being driven and then rotatably re-drives the photosensitive drum. Where the detection unit detects the information about the first movement or the second movement, the control unit performs control to execute the multiple switching operation.

In a case where a type of a feeding standby sheet on a storage unit and a type of a refeeding standby sheet on a reconveyance path are the same, an image forming unit forms an image on one side of a feeding standby sheet on the storage unit, and in a case where a type of a feeding standby sheet on the storage unit and a type of a refeeding standby sheet on the reconveyance path are not the same, the image forming unit forms an image on another side of a refeeding standby sheet on the reconveyance path.

An image forming apparatus includes a device main body, a consumable, and a controller. The consumable is attachable to the device main body. The consumable includes a consumable memory for storing therein recycling history information indicating a recycling history of the consumable. The consumable memory includes a first storage area to which a usage amount of the consumable can be written and a second storage area to which the usage amount of the consumable can be written. The controller is configured to perform a determining process to determine, based on the recycling history information, one of the first storage area and the second storage area as a storage area to which the usage amount is to be written.

An image forming apparatus includes a device main body, a consumable, and a controller. The consumable is attachable to the device main body. The consumable includes a consumable memory for storing therein recycling history information indicating a recycling history of the consumable. The consumable memory includes a first storage area to which a usage amount of the consumable can be written and a second storage area to which the usage amount of the consumable can be written. The controller is configured to perform a determining process to determine, based on the recycling history information, one of the first storage area and the second storage area as a storage area to which the usage amount is to be written.

A cleaning apparatus which cleans an image carrier that has an elastic layer after a toner image formed on the image carrier is transferred onto a transfer object, the cleaning apparatus including: a cleaning blade which contacts the image carrier and removes a residue attached to the image carrier; a change section which changes a cleaning condition of cleaning by the cleaning blade; and a hardware processor which controls the change section to change the cleaning condition in accordance with deterioration of the image carrier.
