20210322863 · 2021-10-21 ·

A security-enhanced document including a substrate, variable indica applied to an area of a first side of the substrate, a scratch-off-coating applied over the variable indicia to maintain the variable indicia unreadable until the scratch-off-coating is removed by being scratched off, and digital imaging applied to an area of a reverse side of the substrate from the variable indicia, wherein the digital imaging applied to the area of the reverse side of the substrate includes the same materials as the variable indicia, is uniformly spread over the area of the reverse side of the substrate, and such that the digital imaging overlaps at least 50% of the variable indica applied to the area of the first side of the substrate, such that the variable indicia exhibits an insufficient signal-to-noise ratio relative to the signal-to-noise ratio of the digital imaging on the reverse side of the substrate so that the variable indicia cannot be discerned so long as the scratch-off-coating remains intact.

Optical security device based on a surface of revolution

An optical article printed on a substrate may include an organic binder; and a plurality of reflective magnetic platelets provided in the organic binder, wherein the plurality of reflective magnetic platelets are substantially aligned in accordance with at least part of a surface of revolution, and wherein the plurality of reflective magnetic platelets are aligned to cause a first reflective effect of the optical article when the substrate is rotated around a first axis and to cause a second reflective effect of the optical article when the substrate is rotated around a second axis, wherein the first reflective effect is different from the second reflective effect.

Information processing apparatus

An information processing apparatus includes a setting unit, a detector and a controller. The setting unit sets setting information associating a registered image obtained by reading an image with control information indicating whether input image data is to be stored or not. The detector detects the registered image from the input image data. The controller controls whether or not the input image data including the registered image is stored in a storage based on the setting information.

Image forming apparatus using special toner and performing fixing condition change control

An image forming apparatus including an image forming unit, a fixing device, and circuitry is provided. The image forming unit is configured to perform a special image forming operation that forms a color toner image and a special toner image with a color toner and a special toner, respectively, on a recording medium and a normal image forming operation that forms the color toner image without forming the special toner image on the recording medium. The fixing device is configured to fix the color toner image and the special toner image on the recording medium. The circuitry is configured to perform, in the special image forming operation, a toner amount suppression control that makes an amount of the color toner on the recording medium per unit area smaller than that in the normal image forming operation.

Examples disclosed herein relate to an imaging device. The imaging device to include a discharge member to discharge a first pattern on a photoconductor; and a writing engine to control the discharge member to discharge a second pattern to the photoconductor to obscure any latent pattern formed from the first pattern remaining on the photoconductor.

METHOD AND APPARATUS TO PRINT A SECURITY MARK VIA NON-FLUORESCENT TONER
20210078346 · 2021-03-18 ·

A method and apparatus for printing a security mark via a non-fluorescent toner is disclosed. For example, the method may be executed by a processor and includes receiving an electronic file of a security mark to be printed on a substrate, determining an amount of halftone coverage for a non-fluorescent toner based on a brightness of the substrate, converting the electronic file of the security mark into a printer description language with the amount of halftone coverage that is determined, and causing the security mark to be printed on the substrate.

A redundantly printed security-enhanced document, printing method and system ensure the meaning of the information imparted by variable indicia printed by redundant printing on the document with removable scratch-off coatings. By printing the variable indicia with multiple colors, redundancy and integrity of the intended indicia is achieved. Additionally, inverted color indicia countermeasures to pinprick attacks are also disclosed. The redundantly printed document, methods and systems enhance the overall appearance of the redundantly printed document, and reduce possible consequences resulting from misprinted variable indicia. The resultant printed process color indicia maintains a grayscale equivalent level of a process color greater than or equal to the measured grayscale equivalent level of the substrate surface plus an additional contrast delta of 15%.

Image forming apparatus that forms see-through prevention image on recording medium on opposite side of source document image
