The first image forming unit forms a developer image based on the input image data on the recording medium. The second image forming unit forms a mark image on the recording medium. The controller determines whether to make the second image forming unit form the mark image or not depending on a type of a transmission source of the input image data.

An image processing apparatus comprises a camera, a reading unit, a memory unit and a control unit. The camera acquires an image of a portion of a user's body to generate image data of the user. The reading unit reads the image on a sheet to generate image data for the sheet. In some examples, a printing device includes drum components, colorant components, and a controller coupled to the drum components and the colorant components. The controller determines a drum data erase is to be performed, generates erasure data in response to the determination, and performs the drum data erase using the erasure data. The drum data erase includes causing the colorant components to transfer a colorant to a drum surface of a drum of the drum components according to a pattern of the erasure data.

In some examples, a printing device includes drum components, colorant components, and a controller coupled to the drum components and the colorant components. The controller determines a drum data erase is to be performed, generates erasure data in response to the determination, and performs the drum data erase using the erasure data. The drum data erase includes causing the colorant components to transfer a colorant to a drum surface of a drum of the drum components according to a pattern of the erasure data.

An electrophotographic printing system includes circuitry configured to: select, in accordance with an operation to an input device, a mask pattern made up of first toner representing black by a combination of a plurality of color toners, the mask pattern being overlaid on an image area of a target image to be concealed within image data; and generate, based on the image data, print data for overlaying and printing the selected mask pattern on the image area.
