ARTICLE OF FOOTWEAR WITH ADJUSTABLE STIFFNESS
An article of footwear with adjustable stiffness is provided. The article of footwear in the form of a snowboard boot is provided with adjustable tensioning systems that are disposed on either side of an inner liner of the snowboard boot. The adjustable tensioning system includes a comb body structure having flex portions made of a plurality of extending fingers with a flexibility that can be controlled by the adjustable tensioning system. Depending on the level of tension applied by the tensioning system, or lack thereof, a range of flex profiles having varying amounts of stiffness are available to the wearer to adjust the overall stiffness of the snowboard boot.
UPPER FOR AN ARTICLE OF FOOTWEAR WITH A CUFF
In one aspect, an upper for an article of footwear may include a knit element, a collar area configured to form an ankle opening, and a cuff in the collar area. The cuff may be at least partially formed by the knit element and may include a ribbed knit structure of the knit element. In another aspect, an upper for an article of footwear may include a knit element with a first area, the first area including a first side and a second side opposite the first side. The first side may be formed of at least 30% more material than the second side such that the first area is configured to curve convexly away from the first side.
ARTICLES OF FOOTWEAR REINFORCED WITH HIGH TENACITY YARN
Articles of footwear may include a knitted component defining at least part of a void and joined with a sole structure. The knitted component may include an interior knit layer, an exterior knit layer, and a plurality of inlaid courses of a high tenacity yarn between the interior and exterior knit layers. The plurality of inlaid courses of high tenacity yarn may include at least three courses of the high tenacity yarn, each of which may be separated from an adjacent course of the plurality by no more than five courses.
Method of forming an upper for an article of footwear
A woven textile structure is formed by weaving a first woven layer including first yarns and weaving a second woven layer including first yarns, where the woven layers are arranged in a stacked manner and are separated from each other. During the weaving of the first and second woven layers, second yarns are inserted along an intermediate span in the weft direction of the woven textile structure, where the second yarns are elongated to an elongated length during the insertion in the weft direction. First yarns of the first woven layer are interlaced with first yarns of the second woven layer and a second yarn of the intermediate span at a plurality of interlacing locations along the woven textile structure so as to define stitches at each interlacing location, where each stitch joins the first woven layer with the second woven layer.
KNIT TEXTILES AND UPPERS, AND PROCESSES FOR MAKING THE SAME
Articles of wear having one or more textiles that include a low processing temperature polymeric composition and a high processing temperature polymeric composition, and methods of manufacturing the same are disclosed. The low processing temperature polymeric composition and the high processing temperature polymeric composition can be selectively incorporated into a textile to provide one or more structural properties and/or other advantageous properties to the article. The textile can be thermoformed to impart such structural and/or other advantageous properties to the article of wear. Fiber-bound engineered materials formed using zonal scrims
A fiber bound engineered material is provided that imparts an intended characteristic at an intended relative location. A fiber layer is entangled with additional fibers in a manner to create a non-uniform engineered material. The lack of uniformity of a fiber bound engineered material may be accomplished through manipulation of the fibers and/or through fiber binding a scrim. The fiber layer binds with additional fibers through entanglement such that a mechanical connection between the entangled fibers is provided. This entanglement allows the fibers to bind without supplemental adhesives, interlacing, or connections. Variations in the fibers and/or inclusion of scrim materials prior to entanglement allows for an intended characteristic (e.g., a functional characteristic) at an intended relative location (e.g., a position determined by an article to be formed therefrom).
GRADIENT PRINTING A THREE-DIMENSIONAL STRUCTURAL COMPONENT
Methods are described herein for printing a three-dimensional structural component onto a base. For example, a method can include receiving a set of predetermined thicknesses for the three-dimensional structural component, instructing a printing device to print a set of layers of the three-dimensional structural component onto the base, and printing the three-dimensional structural component onto the base using the set of predetermined thicknesses to form a printed set of layers. The printed set of layers can include an exposed surface comprising a tall region, an intermediate region, and a short region. A difference in height between the tall region of the exposed surface and the short region of the exposed surface can be greater than a separation distance between the base and a printhead assembly of the printing device. The intermediate region of the exposed surface can have a smoothly sloped geometry.
Upper structure of an article of footwear including a cuff member
An upper structure of an article of footwear includes an upper, a cuff member, and a strobel. The upper includes an exterior upper member and an interior upper member. The cuff member includes a first end coupled to the exterior upper member and a second end coupled to the interior upper member. The cuff member is folded over on itself at a fold to define an ankle opening. The strobel is coupled to the upper and cooperates with the upper to at least partially define a foot-receiving void.
ARTICLE OF FOOTWEAR INCORPORATING A KNITTED COMPONENT
An article of footwear with an upper having a knitted component in an instep region extending between a first side and a second side. Outer lace apertures and inner lace apertures are disposed along the instep area on the first side and, in some aspects, the second side, where inner lace apertures are located more inward towards a middle of the upper than outer lace apertures. A lace extends through an inner lace aperture from an exterior surface on the first side of the upper, along an interior surface of the upper, and then exits the upper through an outer lace aperture on the first side. After exiting the outer lace aperture on the first side, the lace extends across the instep area along the exterior surface of the upper and extends through a lace aperture on the second side, which may be an inner lace aperture.
ARTICLE OF FOOTWEAR INCORPORATING A KNITTED COMPONENT
An article of footwear with an upper having a knitted component in an instep region extending between a lateral side and a medial side. First lace apertures and second lace apertures are disposed along the instep area on the medial and lateral sides at first and second locations. A lace extends through an first lace aperture of the plurality of first lace apertures, from an exterior surface on the medial side of the upper, along an interior surface of the upper, and then exits the upper through a second lace aperture of the plurality of second lace apertures on the medial side. After exiting the second lace aperture, the lace extends across the instep area along the exterior surface of the upper and extends through a third lace aperture of the plurality of first lace apertures on the lateral side.
