WATERPROOF AND BREATHABLE FOOTWEAR COMPRISING A TOE CAP AND A HEEL CAP
A footwear includes an upper and an outsole. The upper includes an outer layer and a membrane. The membrane is waterproof and breathable and has a lower end. The outer layer has a lower end. The lower end of the membrane is attached to an insole around the circumference of the insole. The membrane is at least partly attached to the outer layer by means of a toe cap and/or a heel cap adhering to both the membrane and the outer layer. The toe cap is positioned between the outer layer and the membrane of the upper in a toe end of the footwear, and/or the heel cap is positioned between the outer layer and the membrane of the upper in a heel end of the footwear.
Knit textiles and uppers, and processes for making the same
Articles of wear having one or more textiles that include a low processing temperature polymeric composition and a high processing temperature polymeric composition, and methods of manufacturing the same are disclosed. The low processing temperature polymeric composition and the high processing temperature polymeric composition can be selectively incorporated into a textile to provide one or more structural properties and/or other advantageous properties to the article. The textile can be thermoformed to impart such structural and/or other advantageous properties to the article of wear. This abstract is intended as a scanning tool for purposes of searching in the particular art and is not intended to be limiting of the present disclosure.
Multi-layer extruded uppers for articles of footwear and other foot-receiving devices
Upper components for footwear include: (a) a first layer including a first filament including first plural, non-intersecting, spaced apart path segments (wherein the first filament may have a width dimension of less than 3 mm wide); and (b) a second layer including a second filament including second plural, non-intersecting, spaced apart path segments (wherein the second filament may have a width dimension of less than 3 mm), wherein the second layer is fused to the first layer at locations where the layers contact one another. Additional layers of material, including additional layers with filament, may be included in the upper. The filament material in the different layers may be the same or different from one another (e.g., a thermoplastic material, a thermoplastic polyurethane material, a hydrophobic material, a water-repelling material, a non-water absorbing material, etc.). One or more layers each may be formed as a continuous extruded path of filament.
METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING A FOOTWEAR ARTICLE
The subject of this disclosure is a method for manufacturing a footwear article comprising providing of a first knitted tubular part comprising at least one fusible portion, at least one sole part, at least one flattening opening of unitary knitted construction with the first knitted tubular part and extending at least in the sole part, and providing one or more functional components, disposing, at least partly, the first tubular part substantially flat using the flattening opening; functionalizing the first knitted tubular part, at least partly, substantially flat with one or more functional components to form a footwear assembly; and transforming the footwear assembly on a preform having the foot shape in an upper, transforming the footwear assembly comprising thermoforming the footwear assembly to follow the foot shape of the preform.
ARTICLE OF FOOTWEAR INCORPORATING A KNITTED COMPONENT
An article of footwear may include an upper incorporating a knitted component. An inlaid strand extends through the knitted component. A combination feeder may be utilized to inlay the strand within the knitted component. As an example, the combination feeder may include a feeder arm that reciprocates between a retracted position and an extended position. In manufacturing the knitted component, the feeder inlays the strand when the feeder arm is in the extended position, and the strand is absent from the knitted component when the feeder arm is in the retracted position.
ARTICLE OF FOOTWEAR WITH DISPENSED SADDLE
A method of manufacturing an article of footwear includes forming an upper dispensed component by dispensing material over an upper for an article of footwear. The upper dispensed component includes a bonded segment that bonds to the article of footwear and a non-bonded segment that does not bond to the article of footwear. The non-bonded segment is dispensed over a non-stick material.
Footwear uppers and other textile components including reinforced and abutting edge joint seams
Textile Components, such as upper members for articles of footwear, include: (a) a first portion having a first edge, wherein the first edge includes a first portion of material engaged with a first seam support material via a first thermoplastic material; (b) a second portion having a second edge, wherein the second edge includes a second portion of material engaged with a second seam support material via a second thermoplastic material; and (c) structure to engage the first and second edges in an abutting edge joint (such as a zig-zag stitch). The resulting textile components may be lightweight and breathable (e.g., due to use of lightweight upper fabric), having a comfortable fit (e.g., due to the abutting edge joint), while still providing a strong, stable, and durable construction (e.g., due to the presence of the seam support member(s)).
Footwear with waterproof seams
An article of footwear includes an upper having a quarter having a lower edge having a first slit defined therein and a vamp having an upper edge having a second slit defined therein. The quarter and the vamp are joined along a seam extending along the lower edge of the quarter and the upper edge of the vamp with the first slit and the second slit cooperating with one another. At least a portion of the lower edge of the quarter is adhesively sealed to an inner surface of the vamp.
ARTICLES WITH STRUCTURES FORMED FROM SEQUINS
Hot melt sequins and methods of applying these sequins are disclosed. The sequins may be stitched to a layer of an article in a pattern to form a relatively rigid structure. The sequins may be made of a hotmelt material and melted to form a continuous structure. The sequins may be located along a lacing region and used as eyelets to secure laces.
Functional apertures for manufacturing registration
An article of footwear formed from a flat pattern to include a side seam and/or utilizing aperture alignment of multiple flat pattern pieces is disclosed. In aspects, an article of footwear, such as an upper, is formed from a flat pattern and modified into a dimensional article of footwear that includes a side closing. The side closing may comprise adjoined side edges of the flat pattern upper that are secured to each other with a securing element to maintain the dimensional article of footwear in its shape. Alignment of the parts may be provided through at least partial alignment of apertures in the flat pattern upper and apertures in a securing element and/or other flat pattern pieces, including using multi-purpose apertures, allowing streamlined processing and manufacturing of footwear.
