An image forming apparatus includes a photosensitive member; an intermediary transfer member, a transfer portion, a cleaning portion, and an air blowing portion. The air blowing portion blows the air toward an outer peripheral surface of the intermediary transfer member in a moving direction of the intermediary transfer member away from the transfer portion, at a position between the transfer portion and the cleaning portion in a movement direction of the intermediary transfer member.

An image forming device includes a photoconductor, a motor, a charging member, a cleaning blade, and an abnormality determining unit. The motor is configured to drive the photoconductor to rotate. The charging member is configured to charge the photoconductor. The cleaning blade is configured to contact the photoconductor and remove residual toner from a surface of the photoconductor. The abnormality determining unit is configured to determine abnormality of the cleaning blade based on a motor current flowing in the motor and a gap between the photoconductor and the charging member.

An image forming apparatus includes an image forming unit including a photosensitive member and an optical scanning device including a transparent member that allows laser light for scanning the photosensitive member to pass through, wherein the image forming apparatus transitions between a first state in which image formation processing is able to be performed by the image forming unit and a second state in which power consumption is smaller than in the first state, a cleaning mechanism configured to clean the transparent member, and a control unit capable of executing a cleaning sequence for causing the cleaning mechanism to operate and configured to execute the cleaning sequence based on the image forming apparatus transitioning from the second state to the first state.
